I like Grolsch too but....I have had more Heinekens than cans of Grolsch.

i excually dont drink Grolsh * try to pronounce it in english, it is hilarious, even it dutch it is haha....

i normaly drink Amstel, or Heineken, and sometimes Bavaria

I like Grolsch. I think it tastes peppery. Have you seen it in bottles with the ceramic tops? When I was about 12 we used to go round the back of the cricket club and nick the tops from the empties to wear on our shoes.

I rather like Grolsch too ... but I agree ... the name does sound more like a 'burp' than a 'beer'! (In Canada - yes - we get the ceramic "pop-bottle" tops!)

I seem to recall also from many years ago, a Dutch beer called "Oranjeboem"(?) which I remember as being rather good.

HAHAHAHA that sounds funny!! But I don't understand completely....how (and why) did you wear the tops from the bottles on your shoes? Did you glue them on to your shoes? Was it a fashion trend?

There was a trend to wear stuff on your shoes. Those bottle tops have two bits of metal that fit perfectly into your shoelace eyelets. Another thing we wore was those reflector things people used to attach to the spokes on their bikes. What the heck are they called? One boy replaced the reflectors with little mirrors so that he could see up girls skirts.

where I live? well, that would be, erm, drenthe. In a small farming village, dwingeloo, ever heard of it, quite popular with the dutch tourists....

this is quite funny you know, Germany is usually thought of as a "beer-land" but it would appear dutch beer enjoys more popularity.

Ever seen the film 'Blue Velvet'? Dennis Hopper's character certainly doesn't like Heineken.
Whenever anyone orders one he shouts; ''Heineken, F**k that sh*t !'', whilst extolling the virtues of American beer.

I'm no beer expert, but I had some great ones in Berlin, and Dutch beer is OK with me. And 'Dutch cigarettes'!!!

Paulus Potter, 17th century, was in my eyes, also a very good Dutch landscape painter.

It's ok for a lager, I don't much care for pale lagers. I prefer ales and stouts to lagers. I absolutely despise Hefeweizen or any sort of wheat beer.
