I like Grolsch. I think it tastes peppery. Have you seen it in bottles with the ceramic tops? When I was about 12 we used to go round the back of the cricket club and nick the tops from the empties to wear on our shoes.Originally Posted by Miss_apollo7

I rather like Grolsch too ... but I agree ... the name does sound more like a 'burp' than a 'beer'! (In Canada - yes - we get the ceramic "pop-bottle" tops!)
I seem to recall also from many years ago, a Dutch beer called "Oranjeboem"(?) which I remember as being rather good.

I've heard of Oranjeboem Sen-san. Simon used to like it, until we realised that was what was making him shout out in his sleep! Weird!

There was a trend to wear stuff on your shoes. Those bottle tops have two bits of metal that fit perfectly into your shoelace eyelets. Another thing we wore was those reflector things people used to attach to the spokes on their bikes. What the heck are they called? One boy replaced the reflectors with little mirrors so that he could see up girls skirts.Originally Posted by Miss_apollo7

ok, misunderstanding set apartOriginally Posted by Dutch Baka
where I live? well, that would be, erm, drenthe. In a small farming village, dwingeloo, ever heard of it, quite popular with the dutch tourists....
this is quite funny you know, Germany is usually thought of as a "beer-land" but it would appear dutch beer enjoys more popularity.
This would then be my favorite ablum ever.

I am sorry that the trend didn't pass by my circle of friends at that time.....
Dutch cigarettes? uuuuh? what brand is that? mm maybe you can buy it at Apie hein... eigen merk?
I think that painters like Rembrandt, Vermeer and several others are the greatest Dutch contribution to the world.
Paulus Potter, 17th century, was in my eyes, also a very good Dutch landscape painter.
In my opinion The Dutch are the best in water constructions even if Japan is very good too.
