Politics Should Crimea be an independent country? (Russian-Ukrainian conflict)

the Ukraine's sauvereignity is not threaten neither by Russians, neither by EU or Germans, but from the politicians who follow them, and driven them to civil war

Who took Crimea, a territory which belonged to Ukraine, away?
Are Russian tanks in Donbass, the province of Ukraine?
Did Putin mention how fast russian tanks can be in Kiev?

Crimea—or the
Tauric Peninsula, as it was formerly known—has historically been at the boundary between the classical world and the Pontic-Caspian steppe. Its southern fringe was colonised by the ancient Greeks, the ancient Persians, the ancient Romans, the Byzantine Empire, the Genoese and the Ottoman Empire, while at the same time its interior was occupied by a changing cast of invading steppe nomads, such as the Cimmerians, Scythians, Sarmatians, Goths, Alans, Bulgars, Huns, Khazars, Kipchaks, and the Golden Horde. Crimea and adjacent territories were united in the Crimean Khanate during the 15th to 18th century before falling to the Russian Empire and being included into the Russian Taurida Governorate in 1802.

[h=3]Ukrainian control 1954–2014[/h] In 1954, by an internal political action by Communist Party General Secretary Nikita Khrushchev, it became a territory of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic within the Soviet Union.[17] In 1991, it became part of independent Ukraine as the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

Better ask your shelf who gave sauvereign of Kremnoi to Ukraine!!!!!

Crimea was never a sovereign country. It was always part of other countries.

Secondly, I was pointing to Russian aggression against Ukraine, in response to your claim:

Secondly, I was pointing to Russian aggression against Ukraine, in response to your claim:

Crimea is hammer, the castle of all powers that passed from there,
yet manage to assimilate from ancient to medieval to modern populations,
but its fate to be a base of someone,
like Cyprus, like Malta, like Gibraltar, Hong Kong, like Falkland islands etc,

an autonomous Crimea can stand only if allows a 'Big' one to have naval/military bases there.
I am tired with borders, In EU we cancel them, why should we care about the borders of Ukraine and slain people in acivil war?

Besides in WW2 the famous German airplanes messerschmit used rolls royce kstrel engine
in today's Ukraine's civil inner stragle, gas and oil pass through sauvereign!!!!

Besides in WW2 the famous German airplanes messerschmit used rolls royce kstrel engine
Are you sure British company Rolls Royce produced engines for German airplanes during WW2?

The first prototype (Versuchsflugzeug 1 or V1), with civilian registration D-IABI, was completed by May 1935, but the new German engines were not yet ready. In order to get the "R III" designs into the air, the RLM acquired four Rolls-Royce Kestrel VI engines by trading Rolls-Royce a Heinkel He 70 Blitz for use as an engine test-bed.[nb 2] Messerschmitt received two of these engines and adapted the engine mounts of V1 to take the V-12 engine upright. V1 made its maiden flight at the end of May 1935 at the airfield located in the southernmost Augsburg neighborhood of Haunstetten, piloted by Hans-Dietrich "Bubi" Knoetzsch. After four months of flight testing, the aircraft was delivered in September to the Luftwaffe's central test centre at the Erprobungsstelle Rechlin to take part in the design competition.
In the late summer of 1935, the first Jumo engines became available so V2 was completed in October using the 449 kW (600 hp) Jumo 210A engine. V3 followed, the first to be mounted with guns, but it did not fly until May 1936 due to a delay in procuring another Jumo 210 engine.
The primary engines used were the Daimler-Benz DB 601 and DB 605, though the Junkers Jumo 210 powered most of the pre-war variants.

Russian propaganda all the time is trying to convince the world public opinion that Ukrainian army and MIA battalions are not capable of suppressing rebellion of miners and farmers.
Here you have the maps showing how far Ukrainian forces were pushed to the north and west from 19.08.2014 to 12.03.2015:
ukr 19.08.jpg
ukr 12.03.jpg
But anyone who wants to know what is going on after checking sequence of events will realize that it is impossible to Donieck miners to dig up tunnel from Donieck to Novoazovsk big enough let tanks through :suspicious: So where the tanks came from....

Look at Russia's ghost army reportage:

I don't mind if referendum in any country is made, under classical guidelines and international overseeing. If Scotts or Catalans want to be independent or Crimeans or Donbass to join Russia it is FINE with me. But it has to be done right in honest and transparent manners. This did not happen in Crimea. This referendum is invalid.
I'm sure if it was done in proper way, Crimea would be Russian legally, and we wouldn't have had this discussion.

I tried to stay away from this disgusting time-consuming thread, but it is hard when I accidentally come across all this nonsense here.

"For their part, Crimeans seem content with their annexation by Russia. Overwhelming majorities say the March 16th referendum was free and fair (91%) and that the government in Kyiv ought to recognize the results of the vote (88%).
"

But of course they are all manipulated by Putin's secret brainwash x-rays.

Crimea was not annexed by Russia,it was annexed by Putin.
"Russia" means Putin and his gang that are terrorizing most people living in Russia.
Look at that movie with "I am Russian occupant" that Rogozin post on his twitter account, how come from 150 million Russians, from which most likely at least 30-40 millions have internet access only about 111k liked the video on youtube?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T65SwzHAbes
The video has more than 5 million viewers.
As already written, two demented persons made Russia so big:
Ivan the Terrible and Stalin.
At both orders were killed also lots of Russians, besides people of other ethnicities.
They were not happy with how many people they had to keep under terror and fear so they think to extend their "great and wise leadership" to other people ,so those also would feel the happiness and privilege to be lead by some blood thirsty tyrants.
What a Russian from Bessarabia told and is also cleared in this video,Putin has a "victory politics" he thinks he is some kind of great warrior and his mercenaries are some kind of great army.
See what declaration he gave, that he will occupy "....large territory in Europe" if he wants.
If Obama would have done same as Putin does and would have sent as "volunteers" some US snipers from US marine to Ukraine,to fight with Ukraine army, you would have seen how different things would have been.
Or if US would send 9-10 F16 and some instructors to Ukraine army,to teach Ukraine army pilots how to fly these jets, see what "rebels" will do than.
It is not worth to get involved in East Ukraine,a revolution will start soon in Russia and Putin will get in jail,if not killed by the crowds.
Putin managed to make the most wealthy state from the world,as resources, bankrupt.
Russia is like this, because 85% of their exports is oil and since oil price dropped ,Russia economy has a huge problem.

Look at Russia's ghost army reportage:
What a great piece of documentary, thanks for posting matbir. We are going to hear more and more stories about killed and wounded soldiers, till Putin can't hide it no more.

According the independence of Cyprus
Greece UK and Turkey should guaranty the aytonomy and indepence of Cyprus,
yet the NATO (US/CIA) dictatorship put a dictator, and then a second one who overlap the first to make an effort to kill Cyprus president,
and then Turkey invaded and still today occupies 1/3 to 1/2 of island,
what Uk did?
and what NATO did?
besides even from the times of Greek revolt for indepence Russia did not tend to occupy Romania,
the after WW2 dictatorship in Romania is another case,
but since you are Romanian, I am expecting to discuss about Moldova and Hyperdneisteria than Crimaia,
yet which you wanted to be president of Russia?
Putin? or Abramovich?

the Ukraine's sauvereignity is not threaten neither by Russians, neither by EU or Germans, but from the politicians who follow them, and driven them to civil war

It was a crime in Cyprus,
It is a crime in Kossovo,
It is a crime in Moldova,
lets not make another crime in the Ukraine in the name of sauvereign of land borders and send UN to keep peace, in order not to change borders,
Diplomacy is to solve problems, not to create,
As for Romania and Russia?
that is the bad to have a strong neighbor

now tell me,
do you believe that Romania is in danger? with or with out NATO bases?
Yetos, you opened my eyes on something I was neglecting.
The fact that both Turkey and Russia went and took parts of other countries,by aggression.
What have Turkey and Russia in common, someone would ask?
Well, this is a more deep connection.
If someone would study history, would see Imperial Russia, when had Rurikids leading them became allied to Tatars.
First ,Tatars were killing and enslaving Russians and Fino-Ugrians ,ethnicities that were that time the people of Russia.
Later it seems Russians and Fino-ugrians from Russia become allies to Tatars.
And Russians and Fino-Ugrians were heavily influenced, especially from a cultural point of view by Tatars.
See the dressing of Tsars, that is of Tatar origin.
Turks, who conquered that part of Byzantine Empire and assimilated the people, are related to Tatars, both are Turkic people.
So,Russia leaders rather seems to have a Tatar education and culture, than an European one.

As for whom I would prefer as president of Russia,I would prefer a Putin that stops with aggressive behavior ,a Putin who tries to develop agriculture in Russia ,a Putin that sees in US and European Union allies ,not enemies etc.
If Romania is in danger?
I have no idea, but we do not have any NATO bases here,US army has a very small base, that is all.

The rise of Moscow
Founded in 1147, Moscow remained an insignificant town for more than a hundred years. At that time, the location lay at the crossroads of three major roads, one of which connected Moscow to Kiev. The geographic location of Moscow merits attention, as it sits on a bend of the Moscow River, which connects to the Oka and Volga River. Via the Volga River, that allows access to the Dniepr and Don Rivers, as well as the Black and Caspian Seas, huge opportunities for trade and commerce with distant lands have always existed. With the Mongol onslaught, droves of refugees began to arrive from the devastated southern portion of Rus, namely Kiev (Riasanovsky, 109). Moreover, the actions of the Muscovite princes in favor with the Mongols helped Moscow’s rise as the center of power.
Leading up to the point that the Mongols granted Moscow the iarlyk, Tver and Moscow were constantly struggling for power. The major turning point surfaced in 1327 when the populace of Tver started to rise in rebellion. Seeing this as an opportunity to please the khan of his Mongol overlords, Prince Ivan I of Moscow took a huge Tatar contingent and quashed the rebellion in Tver, thereby restoring order in that city and winning the favor of the khan. For his show of loyalty, Ivan I was also granted the iarlyk and with this Moscow took yet another step towards prominence and power. Soon the princes of Moscow took over the responsibilities of collecting taxes throughout the land (and in doing so, taking part of these taxes for themselves) and eventually the Mongols gave this responsibility solely to Moscow and ended the practice of sending their own tax collectors. Yet Ivan I was more than a shrewd politician and exchequer of good judgment: he was perhaps the first prince to replace the traditional lateral line of succession with the vertical line (though this would not be fully achieved until the second Prince Vasilii’s reign in the mid-1400s (Hosking, 71-2)). This change brought more stability to Moscow and thus strengthened her position within the realm. As Moscow grew wealthier through being the main tax collector of the lands, its authority over several principalities became greater and more consolidated. The lands that Moscow gained equated with more taxes and more access to resources, and thus more power.
During the time that Moscow grew wealthier and more powerful, the Golden Horde was in a state of general decay, wrought with rebellions and coups. Prince Dmitrii decided to attack the Kazan khanate in 1376 and was successful. Not long after, one of the Mongol generals, Mamai, sought to create his own horde of sorts in the steppes west of the Volga River (Hosking, 79) and he decided to challenge the authority of Prince Dmitrii on the banks of the Vokha River; Dmitrii defeated Mamai, exciting his Muscovites and, naturally, angering the Mongols. However, Mamai chose to fight again and organized a contingent of 150,000 men; Dmitrii matched this number and their two armies met near the River Don at Kulikovo Pole (Kulikovo Field) in early September of 1380 (Dmytryshyn, 140). Dmitrii’s army, though suffering losses of some 100,000 men, defeated Mamai; Tokhtamysh, one of Tamerlane’s generals, soon captured and executed the general. Prince Dmitrii became known as Dmitrii Donskoi (of the Don). However, Moscow was soon sacked by Tokhtamysh, and once again had to pay tribute to the Mongols.
Yet the great battle of Kulikovo Pole in 1380 was a symbolic turning point. Even though Moscow suffered retribution for attacking Mongol armies, the power that Moscow welded would continue to grow and its influence over other Russian principalities would continue to expand. Novgorod finally succumbed to future capital in 1478, and Moscow soon shed any allegiance to the Mongol and Tatar overlords thus ending over 250 years of Mongol control.

More about Ivan I of Moscow, the Rurikid who started to make Moscow a great power:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_I_of_Moscow
"Biography

Ivan was the son of Prince of Moscow Daniil Aleksandrovich.
After the death of his elder brother Yuri III, Ivan inherited the Principality of Moscow. Ivan participated in the struggle to get the title of Grand Prince of Vladimir which could be obtained with the approval of a khan of the Golden Horde. The main rivals of the princes of Moscow in this struggle were the princes of TverMikhail, Dmitry the Terrible Eyes, and Alexander II, all of whom obtained the title of Grand prince of Vladimir and were deprived of it. All of them were murdered in the Golden Horde. In 1328 Ivan Kalita received the approval of khan Muhammad Ozbeg to become the Grand Prince of Vladimir with the right to collect taxes from all Russian lands.
According to the Russian historian Kluchevsky, the rise of Moscow under Ivan I Kalita was determined by three factors. The first one was that the Moscow principality was situated in the middle of other Russian principalities; thus, it was protected from any invasions from the East and from the West. Compared to its neighbors, Ryazan principality and Tver principality, Moscow was less often devastated. The relative safety of the Moscow region resulted in the second factor of the rise of Moscow – an influx of working and tax-paying people who were tired of constant raids and who actively relocated to Moscow from other Russian regions. The third factor was a trade route from Novgorod to the Volga river.
Ivan Kalita intentionally pursued the policy of relocation of people to his principality by an invitation of people from other places and by purchase of Russian people captured by Mongols during their raids. He managed to eliminate all the thieves in his lands, thus insuring the safety of traveling merchants. Internal peace and order together with the absence of Mongolian raids to the Moscow principality was mentioned in Russian chronicles as “great peace, silence, and relief of Russian land.
Ivan made Moscow very wealthy by maintaining his loyalty to the Horde (hence, the nickname Kalita, or moneybag[3]). He used this wealth to give loans to neighbouring Russian principalities. These cities gradually fell deeper and deeper into debt, a condition that would allow Ivan's successors to annex them. The people called Ivan the ‘gatherer of the Russian lands’. He bought lands around Moscow, and very often the poor owners sold their lands willingly. Some of them kept the right to rule in their lands on behalf of Ivan Kalita. In one way or another a number of cities and villages joined the Moscow principality – Uglichin 1323, the principality of Belozero in 1328–1338, the principality of Galich in 1340. Ivan's greatest success, however, was convincing the Khan in Sarai that his son, Simeon The Proud, should succeed him as the Grand Prince of Vladimir; from then on, the important position almost always belonged to the ruling house of Moscow. The Head of the Russian Church – Metropolitan Peter, whose authority was extremely high, moved from Vladimir to Moscow to Prince Ivan Kalita.
Following a Lithuanian raid on the town of Torzhok in 1335 (as part of the Muscovite–Lithuanian Wars), Ivan retaliated by burning the towns of Osechen and Riasna.[4]
Ivan died in Moscow, 31 March 1341.[1] He was buried 1 April in the Church of the Archangel Michael.[1"

He made Moscow a great power,by being allied to Golden Horde.

A talk of
George Friedman, CEO of Stratfor, at The Chicago Council on Global Affairs

Europe: Destined for Conflict?

As an appetizer I recommend to start with the question&answers at the end of the talk, because it is more about Ukraine. It's worth to listen twice because every sentence is full of information. I don't necessarily agree with everything, but overall he is surprisingly open. There is no moralizing or blaming, only analysis, openness and a bit zynism. I don't want to call it honesty, but compared to many liberals (democrats), this is sort of honesty. I hope his predictions will not be true, but he well predicted the past decade.
He said that Russia is under existential threat if Ukraine does not remain neutral. Geography is important, because as I said Russia has continuous trouble to keep it's borders safe, while countries like the US have only two borders and can conveniently focus on dominating the oceans. And then listen carefully what he says about Eurasia and how it is to be split by a so-called "intermarium" consisting of Baltics, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeLu_yyz3tc&t=2683

The actual talk is a bit more sparse than the Q&A. It is still interesting but not so new to many.

Mihai, you really should calm down, take a deep breath and then think about how much propaganda these days might be around and consider that your thinking might be ... influenced. It is the deliberate goal to stir-up old sentiments especially in eastern europe. And you take the bait and start digging out thousand years of the past.
And I don't know what your vid is supposed to prove. "Russian invasion" probably, lol.

Oh, one journalist said that, so certainly now Kiev government needs to act on it. Perhaps I should check german news and see what one journalist thinks about German minorities. By this we will know what Merkel plans for them.
I think this is how your conspiracy theory starts. One guy said...

You know exactly that it is not just one guy, because above I posted speech from Poroshenko and a General too. And if this is still not enough, here comes Timoshenko, the presidential candidate against Yanukovich:
"Grab guns and kill damn russians in ukraine"

If this is still not enough, I have more.

This is all no coincidence, it helps stirring hatred also in Russia to press Putin to intervene in a dirty and ruinous war - escalation. But since he resisted to do so (at least openly). That's why these ghost stories come up now.

Russia should join Eu and NATO where is their place.
Also Russia population will have a very good life and a free society ,in which the Russian people will become as they were before Bolsheviks came.
Putin made alliance with China,Brazil,India and South Africa....why?
He is selling natural gas very cheap to China, why?
I cited first thing about Asian Golden Horde influence from an Asian site, which were very proud about this.
The Golden Horde influence in Russia is a very negative thing, same about the Chinnese lack of respect for human persons.
China also has a great culture, but this very nice influence did not got into Russia,as it would have been normal.
Russian people do not need all kind of lack of cultures, they were having a very nice culture during the days of Tsars, which idiot Bolshevism wiped away.
Now Putin continues with a kind of idiotic Bolshevism.
He is a brain washed KGB agent and does not knows the deep soul of Russians.
Just wait,a revolution will start in Russia,to cast Putin away,Russian people are getting more and more fed by Putin.
Talking with people which likes Bolshevism is hard, they have trouble to understand abstract concepts, because they are brain washed with propaganda.

Russia should join Eu and NATO where is their place.

Tell it to EU and NATO.

Also Russia population will have a very good life and a free society ,in which the Russian people will become as they were before Bolsheviks came.
Putin made alliance with China,Brazil,India and South Africa....why?

Because the european geniusses started sanctions, so Russia had to beg China. Another response was that Gazprom cancelled south-stream and choose Turkey as new proxy, so EU has to care by itself about new pipeline builds. Compare the pipelines to Europe with those to China. Russia was totally Europe oriented.

1152550748.gif

It was Russia who strived to Europe and Europe pushed it away, because EU politicians are simply unable.

In case you are asking why there are BRICS nations: every country is free to go it's own path, or not? US and EU have a debt issue, by the way, so it is not too surprising.

He is selling natural gas very cheap to China, why?

Because China can force cheap prices on Russia, because Russia lost the european alternative. This is exactly what Putin not wanted.
There is a historic distrust between China and Russia. Remember that even during communist times, both communist Soviet Union and communist China were on the brink to war. There were shootings at the border in the 70s. The current alliance between Russia and China is hailed by many, but I'm still sceptic.

No need to mention that sentiment in Russia is becoming increasingly anti-western, but this is a predictable reaction to these hostilities, not a cause. The Europe-Russian relation and trust which was developed during 50 years has been destroyed by us.

I'm not sure this is relevant or even correct. However, I have no opinion on that.

Russian people do not need all kind of lack of cultures, they were having a very nice culture during the days of Tsars, which idiot Bolshevism wiped away.

Fair enough.

Now Putin continues with a kind of idiotic Bolshevism.
He is a brain washed KGB agent and does not knows the deep soul of Russians.

You sound like you consume too much press and TV. Please don't believe your press and media, it is probably the same in Romania like elsewhere in Europe currently. I believe nothing anymore from our TV about Russia. Journalists have already been caught in Germany, one forged reports about Donetsk refugees by cutting footages and commenting it with opposite meaning. This journalist keeps working because she is backed by the government. Other stations repeatedly showed photos from Georgia 2008 as "proof" of russian army in Ukraine. After they got exposed, they did it again, because they are backed.

concerning bolshevism:

Putin is a right-wing conservative and Russia is probably more capitalist than EU and US. Thatcher and Reagan would be amazed about Russia's corporatist-capitalist system, which I personally do not support, but it is not bolshevist for sure. Culturally Putin is also closer to nationalism, tsarism and traditionalism, which is completely the opposite of internationalistic modernistic bolshevism.
Putin went to KGB because he was fascinated by spying as a child and because he was patriotic. Probably he didn't even know if he was communist, because in Soviet Union many were unable to distinguish communism and patriotism. That's why he is mixing up tsarist and soviet elements for russian identity, despite both are totally opposing ideologies. This is also my criticism I have towards Russia and Putin, he does not provide a new or better alternative, except a multipolar world vision.

Just wait,a revolution will start in Russia,to cast Putin away,Russian people are getting more and more fed by Putin.

At the moment his popularity is rising. But George Friedman predicts Russia's collapse in about four years, and I see this happening too, because Russia is truly in a geostrategically defensive situation. Russia will have a hard time defending it's countless borders, which are spoiled by "staged colored revolution" (cit. Friedman talk). If collapse happens, you wouldn't be as safe anymore as you are now.

Talking with people which likes Bolshevism is hard, they have trouble to understand abstract concepts, because they are brain washed with propaganda.

:indifferent: Whatever.

Lol,ElHorsto are you serious about Putin being not bolshevik?
Those "private companies" are in fact controlled by "state","state" meaning Putin's people.
What is now in Russia is not that far from Stalin times,Putin is leading as he wants,if this is not a model taken from the Khans of Golden Horde, than from were it was taken?
You know that actually Russia had a partnership for peace with NATO,which is the first stage for a country,to join NATO?
