If you think that everything people wanted and needed was invented, think again.

Every day human genius is pushing all the boundaries and invents new things.

Post here whatever technology you find genius or at leas amazing to share with all.

I just discovered a ball with a sole. It moves around like it was alive. A must have for pet owners.

Not very useful robo-ball but amazing technology.

Interaction with objects from far away.

Sony Rolly, the alive speakers, and I really mean alive!

Genius girl Dr Leslie Dewan can save the world from nuclear waste and give world almost unlimited energy!!!
http://transatomicpower.com/index.php

Traditional nuclear reactors use up only 3% of energy trapped inside radioactive material. The molten salt reactor, the Transatomic Power design, can use 97%, clean up the world off all nuclear waste material and is incredibly safe to operate. No more Chernobyl or Fukushima.

Is this the tire of the future?

Ground shaking announcement from Lockheed Martin Corporation. Supposedly they've figured out how to produce electricity from nuclear fusion. They claim that they will have working reactor in 10 years, the size of a truck, which is very small for reactors.
Nuclear fusion is the holy grail of energy source. Same fusion of hydrogen atoms that happens in core of our Sun. It will give us almost inexhaustible clean energy.
Well, if it only works this time. We've been promised Fusion Reactors for last 70 years, since explosion of first Hydrogen Bomb. Making the bomb was easy, reactor extremely difficult.

Not very useful ? I think they were aiming for a prototype of this.

Useful house security system (hoping the neighbours' kids don't come to your garden to get back their ball).

Wow ! That is really cool ! Imagine when these squares become microscopic pixels with heat and touch sensors integrated. We'll be able to touch things and other people virtually from anywhere in the world (or even on other planets just by sending robots) !

This would indeed be a true game changer for how the world produces energy - if this is true... The MIT Technology Review provides more mitigated feedback.

Gene synthesis on demand

This technology escaped my attention. I was under impression that to isolate a gene from plant, animal or fungus and use it in research or transplant it to other plants or animals to achieve required characteristic, one needs to spend months of splicing and slicing a chromosome to get the pure gene. This is no longer true. There a machines, gene synthesizers, that can build a gene one letter at the time. It requires only sending a gene "blueprint" to this company and about 5,000 dollars for average gene and you will receive the gene you are after in few days.
How cool and futuristic is this?!!!

PS. They even guarantee no mutations. Better than nature, lol.

New technologies which will come to the market in 2015-2016:

I'm excited about MS HoloLens. Translucent glasses with holographic HD display. Wow!

Grand breaking 3D printer, prints up to 100 times faster than other 3D printers, with way better quality. Products are ready in minutes instead of hours.

First ever picture of proto-planet forming!

composite-212x300.jpg

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/d...obID=682534738&spReportId=NjgyNTM0NzM4S0#5468

The picture is of a new solar system 450 light years away. The new sun is in center and new planet is glowing in pink. Planet is glowing because hydrogen and other materials got squeezed and became very very hot, 10,000 Celsius. System is very young, only 2 million years old.

This is first direct evidence that the theory of solar system and planet formation from dust/hydrogen cloud is right! In this picture we can see a star, a planet, and still remaining hot gas swirling above them, yet to coalesce into farther planets, moons, comets, etc.

Few decades ago only few people believed that it will be possible to ever see planets in other solar systems. Here we go now!
Human genius doesn't stop to amaze.
