It's such a great song, but he has a lot of great songs.

He's a really good guy, Bill Joel, and not just because of all the help he's tried to give to Long Island fishermen. He just lives his life, eats and drinks in the same old places he always did as a kid, waits in line at the store, down to earth, friendly, the guy next door who made it big but never forgot where he came from. He just got a bigger house.
He's a really amazing artist, who was able to have so many diverse styles; and managed to make each sound fantastic.

That's what I love about these New York/New Jersey guys-Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen-not only good music, but great lyrics that give you something to think about, that you memorize and sing along with them.
It doesn't get any better than Billy, his piano, and Tony Bennet singing "A New York State of Mind" at Shea Stadium.
