What music are you listening to?

San Remo 2020 winner and contestant for Eurovision: Fai Rumore-Diodato

Without even looking it up I'd say Neapolitan.

50 years of metal.
and I am fan of British one from Birmingham bands

remember this album?

The end of Hippie era.
the dawn of Metal
the music of depression as the 'drug mutant' Ozzy used to call it.
(Btw, the late mutated one has nothing to do with previous I think)

E se domani: Raphael Gualazzi and Simona Molinari. Why on earth isn't Simona Molinari more popular in Italy. She has a wonderful voice, imo. I like almost everything she does. She's also lovely to look at...

In the last 2 years, I make it a point to check out Italian Folk Music. My favorite TV Show is Commissario Montalbano, The Sicilian Detective (Polizia) created by the Sicilian Writer Andrea Camilleri [RIP as he passed away last summer). The Montalbano shows (Young Montalbano as well as Commissario Montalbano) introducted my to Olivia Sellerio who sings many of the Montalbano Soundtracks. I would say her music is in the tradition of Sicilian Folk music. I also like listening to the classical folk music of Southern Italy. The Neapolitan ones (Come Facette Mamette, Funiculi Funicula and O Sardato innamarato) are the closest ones that rival the Sicilian ones (e.g. Vittz na Crozza, Ciuri Ciuri) in my opinion, maybe slightly better. I have also followed this beautiful young couple from Calabria who play traditional Southern Italy Tarnatella muisic at festivals and restaurants in Southern Italy. They did a video on the ferry to Messina and played folk music on it. There names are Fortunato and Valentina (the word Bella does not do her justice).

I have to wake up :)

Salento: Bravo! I need to check canta Marlissa's version out. There is the this Sicilian Folk choir that has a concert they did that was done by tele regina I think it is that is on youtube. They do a very good version of Ciuri Ciuri and Viti na Crozza.

The traditional Italian party in Belo Horizonte is the second largest italian party in the world realized by Italian community outside Italy. This is a short video of a local dance group performing a Calabrese Tarantella.

in Griko, the real Greek :petrified: lol

Such a beautiful song. I wish I could understand it. :)

It would require a native Griko speaker or an Italian & a Greek and some guessing :).

@Salento, maybe you can help?

I don’t speak Griko, but I can translate it into English from an Italian translation :)

First loyal love

In my small land, I was collecting linen

And I saw something flashing in the green

Like when the moon rise up
from her shining beautiful bed

You saw me and you hid in the grass

You were afraid I'd meet you alone

I went away, but, I tell you with the heart
The feet were moving forward, the eyes backward.

First loyal love
Even at night I see you in my dreams

I wake up and I don't see you
and I start crying for a long time

Put My Love in your soul,
like I put it in my heart

Because that's how things go in life:

Love as you are loved
