What European academic or vocational qualifications can be taken from overseas?

What European academic or vocational qualifications can be taken from outside of Europe? From prior research, it seems that many (but not all) English GCSE's and A-Levels can be sat in the USA, Canada, or many other countries with an approved proctor, and several UK universities offer distance degrees that can in theory be taken from nearly anywhere. What other options are available and/or practical? For example, is it possible to earn a German Abitur, a French Bac, or a Scottish Higher from overseas? What recognized European vocational credentials can be obtained while overseas? For example, can one take an Irish teaching licence while outside of Ireland and/or Europe?

Has anyone actually taken (or sat and failed) a European qualification from overseas? If so, what was the experience like? For example, was it a simple matter of registering, submitting paperwork, and going to testing centers to take exams, or did it require extensive coordination of efforts, very large fees, and special processing?
