My dad was born in Lora del Rio, Seville Spain. His parents were killed during the Civil War of Spain. He was then adopted. In the year 2002, I found his family. Before he died at the age of 80, he was reunited. There is much information found and more researching. For now, I have the following. His paternal and maternal side originate from the West side of Spain, a town called Fuente de Cantos, Badajoz. They have extensive genealogical records in this town. I was able to locate information on both sides, paternal and maternal, going back to 1660 and 1630. There is more information but unfortunately I am unable to read Latin and the script is so fancy that I'm unable to decipher what alphabet it implies. Then, DNA analysis was done. Can anyone share with me what my dad's DNA is saying....probabilities regarding regions. Thank you immensely. Maria

I put your results into nevgen.org and got the following predictions:

97.3% : R1b Z2103>Z2106
2.5% : R1b Z2103>L584

R-Z2103 is a cousin to R-L51, which is the ancestor to the major western European R1b subclades, including the Iberian DF27, Germanic U106, Italo-Celtic U152, and Insular Celtic L21. This is unusual because you said that your paternal ancestors were from Spain, which would be more likely to yield R-DF27 or one of the other ones that I mentioned. R-Z2103 is associated more with eastern Europe.

Can anyone else confirm an R-Z2103 result?

I found a Thread with a map on R-Z2103. Is that not the distribution you are thinking of? The distribution is more slanted toward Romania, Albania, and Greece than Spain, Portugal, or France. Z2103 is even more common in Turkey, so I wondered if there could be an Umayyad or Saracen connection, but that's probably not the case.

The peak is around Western Asia and strong in the Balkans. So the notion "East European" was kinda weird in my ears, because I neither consider West Asia nor the Balkans as "East Europe" in the traditional sense. East Europe for me is everything North of Croatia and east of Austria.

R1b v88 is common among Semites but z2013 is rare among them.

Ossetians have significant percentage of z2013 so there might be an Alan connection.

Ossetians are 9219+ in the above diagram. Alan and or Sarmatian.

Much has been learned since this map was created. The Z2103 data has been parsed into specific clades.
