Trump, the "good" businessman went bankrupt 6 times. He managed to ruin 5 casinos! Now this takes a talent.

  • Trump Taj Mahal Associates, Atlantic City casino — 1991
  • Trump Castle Hotel & Casino, Atlantic City casino — 1992
  • Trump Plaza Associates, Atlantic City casino — 1992
  • Plaza Operating Partners, Manhattan hotel — 1992
  • Trump Casino Holdings, Atlantic City casinos — 2004
  • Trump Entertainment Resorts, Atlantic City casinos — 2009

He only made money on real estate. But if anyone bought any real estate in New York in 80s and 90s, quadrupled or even 10 folded the invested value at present. Everybody was same genius as Trump in this department. It is obvious that he is a bad businessman, bad manager and bad leader.

@ Angela. I wish I had time to answer in more length but I need to be out pretty soon so I make a quick post and be concise. Protests are legitimate and at any rate the numbers were very few but that is not the point. Sanders was given a hero welcome at the National Conversion (3min applause?) He does not come across to me as some kind of puppet and its seems he knows his priorities very well. He was very clear in his message. Its much more about defeating Trump then endorsing Clinton and if his 'supporters' respect him so much then they should take heed. If they dont then they are not his supporters anymore.

I still believe the Republicans must have been very upset that the fueling Sanders supporters to be disruptive did not really work irrelevant of all the booing. I believe this is the essence irrelevant of all the nitty gritties (which of course should not be excluded). What Bernie Sanders did, did it from his heart. Not difficult to see. If what he believes in will be translated into National policy if Clinton ever make it to the white house is a different story.

@Promenade. On basic cable I also get China and Russia tv. (in English) Russia TV is very pro Trump very anti EU. So my opinions are not just formed through one source. In relation to Trump its more of a personality clash. I never felt comfortable (even on a day to day level) with people who insult and belittle people. Please do not tell me that Trump did not do this. There are a thousand reasons why people could be diplomatically correct. People who are spontaneous very often will get into a lot of trouble and create lots of bad feelings that otherwise could be avoided. Not everything seems of what it is and if someone does not have the ability to digest and factfully analise a situation, then its a recipe for doom. This can also happen in presidential situations and that is a very scary thing. In regards to Establishment I believe do not really know what they are referring too. As a business man Trump is also part of the Establishment and so are we all. SO these buzz words are not correct and lack any correctness. One can improve how an establishment works but cannot do without it. Otherwise we have anarchy.

I am not the one who "unhelpfulled" you, but

Trump, the "good" businessman went bankrupt 6 times.

this is not true. Trump has never filed for bankruptcy. Less than 1% of the companies he's been involved with have filed for Chapter 11. This is not at all like Chapter 7, which is what most people think of when discussing bankruptcy, and what he would have filed for if he'd ever "gone bankrupt." The former is essentially a restructuring of debt to allow a business to continue; the latter is "well, I'm broke!"

Bill's still got it...the delivery is so great that you could almost forget that the woman he's describing doesn't exist. It's as if the FBI director never branded her a liar, Libya and Bengazi never happened, they never took 200 million from the most evil, brutal and corrupt dictators in the world, and on and on...

I find it really hard to believe that he personally signed off on having the "Black Lives Matter" mothers on stage, including the mother of the young man whom we now know did not put his hands up and say don't shoot, but instead reached into the police car and tried to grab the cop's gun, and never even mentioned the police officers targeted for murder, much less having their wives and children on the stage. He's too smart to have supported this decision.

This was just abysmally stupid. Hillary is all in with "Black Lives Matter"; she is desperate to get the black and Hispanic vote. She knows that without it she'd lose. I don't know if they've calculated, however, how the optics of this convention are going to go down with non-minority Americans, and not just those with racist tendencies, either.

If the Republicans were putting up anybody but Trump, they'd have a landslide victory. Even with Trump, this is the current prediction by Nate Silver, who's a great statistician' he got it precisely right last time. She's been steadily declining, and he's been steadily going up. Amazing.

Hillary Clinton

46.1%

Donald Trump

44.9%

Gary Johnson

7.7%

We'll see what happens to that 8% for the Libertarians, and where they'll go if it tanks.

If anyone is interested in hearing Black Lives Matter's perspective, lend your ear to this interview, at least before you judge.

and also for context from the same show, a very good assessment of the state of law enforcement in this country...

Also, when anyone starts bloviating about the tragedy in Benghazi, please also remember this:

Talk about 'intelligence failures.'

I really don't think they had a choice. They obviously need to maintain their usual share of black votes, and not embracing BLM would just be too much of a possible risk this year. I think it's unfortunate that the deaths of those who attacked people are conflated with the deaths of those who didn't, but since BLM started with the deaths of Martin and, especially, Brown, they're stuck with them.

I'm still not entirely convinced she's pandering enough at this point to secure the votes she wants. Many of the BLM people simply appear to distrust her no matter what she says.

The point was that except real estate all his businesses were not successful. It means that he is not a good businessman. He is just lucky rich kid who got more lucky investing in real estate in New York. The rest is just a show in which he is good at.

I agree with the statement in bold, at least if we can trust that the reaction of the protesters outside the hall are more reflective of actual sentiment in the African American community than that of the activists inside.

As to the rest, even if they felt they had to continue to support what is essentially a movement based on a lie, they could at least have made a bow to the families of police officers too. One sentence in Bill's speech just doesn't cut it for me, and I bet for a lot of other people.

I consider myself as far from being a racist as a white person could be, I think, but this really ticks me off, and it's one of the reasons there's no earthly way that I could vote for her.

@Bix,

Sorry, this is something I know a lot about, and those articles are bunk. Period.

I understand the point, I just don't think it requires dishonesty to stand. Trump likes to talk about what a great businessman he is, but what it really comes down to is that he's rich. Many people in this country equate that with success. Trying to make it seem like he's gone bankrupt (which he literally never has) won't change that.

Most money he invests or stands behind in "his" businesses are money of third party investors. These are the suckers who lose money in Trumps ventures.

I honestly think that either many of the people involved are utterly tone-deaf, or that they cynically calculated that they needed BLM votes more than police votes.

Clinton will (and has), of course, decry the deaths of police at another time, when she's not directly wooing black voters.

One sentence in Bill's speech just doesn't cut it for me, and I bet for a lot of other people.

Still, though, better from Bill than her, I'd guess. I know I'm not the only one who finds him extremely likeable and her the opposite. The contrast is marked. He's a charismatic person, and she's just...so not. It's jarring.

I'm not arguing against that. But that's not bankruptcy, save perhaps of the moral sort. :)

This. They may be miscalculating, though; it's not just "police votes" that they may lose, it's normal, every day people with some common sense who will be sickened by this sort of thing.

I don't have a crystal ball, and so I don't know what will happen, but I am increasingly hearing people "come out of the closet", for Trump. I have to say I'm surprised by how many there are, and from very educated segments of the population as well. I'll never get there myself, but that's what I'm seeing and hearing.

I'm not immune to Bill's charms. He's still a crook, though, and a serial predator of women, and usually lower class women who don't have the power to take him on. He may be beyond it now, of course. He looks like he needs a hamburger, as others have said. :)

On to the trivial...has anyone ever noticed how after plastic surgery everyone starts to look alike? Bill and Joe Biden must have gone to the same doctor. :) Bill was never precisely handsome, but he had "something", one has to admit; no more. :) As for me, I don't have many wrinkles, thanks to good genes, but the ones I have I earned; they're going to stay!

Very true. I have serious doubts, despite the vast internet attention paid to BLM, that anything close to a majority of Americans feel that it's acceptable for black men to attack police, for example.

I must admit to being surprised by the results of our own poll, at least, and (anecdotally) by the number of Sanders-supporters who are so furious at Clinton and the DNC that they're vowing to vote for Trump to spite her. It's going to be an interesting several months ahead.

how much rubbish is in American politics..........sanders and Clinton fought each other in a detestable , slanderous campaign against each other and now Sanders endorses Clinton. It just shows how many lies come out of politicians mouth.
What Sanders should have said to his supporters, was to vote for no body...................likewise in the republican camp

Barack Obama's half-brother Malik says he's voting for Donald Trump
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/jul/25/barack-obama-half-brother-malik-obama-trump

He is not stupid.
The quote specifically mentions his supporters.

No it does not. No where does it explicitly mention that Trump supporters were looking these things up. In fact, it does not mention anyone in specific except internet users.

As far as we know it could have been all Hillary supporters who googled to look up the terms, there is no way to conclude that the phenomena was restricted to Trump supporters, that's wishful thinking on Andy Borowitz's part who is an ardent liberal and writer for the famously left wing "New Yorker". There is no way to know what demographic actually looked up the terms. Since liberal sources that are against Trump would be more likely to report this story it is fair to say that the majority could have been anti Trump just as fair as it is for you to speculate that the people looking up the terms supported Trump. The article is constructed to coerce you into thinking a certain way.
(Although Hawking's response to Lewandowski was very amusing, he has a wonderful sense of humor)

I think there are two types of support. Obviously Trump is playing some game (or is being played by someone) that means he should be smart or have smart advisers. The top level supporters he has also may take part in that game and expect some sort of benefit. The moral of that is questionable, but yeah, they are not stupid.
Other type of support is someone voting for Trump based on his rhetoric. Now that borderlines stupidity. Especially the foreign affairs part. The only part we actually care in Europe :)

This is a logical fallacy, a classic false dichotomy.

Also I doubt you have met many Trump supporters to even begin to make an assertion like this.

As a Latvian citizen I know you must be concerned about who we pick for president though since the threat of Russia is very real for your nation. It is ironic that Obama and the Democrats have let Russia waltz right into Ukraine and let them take the entirety of Crimea and allowed them to occupy much of the Donbass. As Russia's neighbor and having a large minority of ethnic Russians the Baltic states and Ukraine need our support, unfortantely we have failed that duty to a large extent so far

I was not the one who unhelpfulled him either but Lebrok deserved it, he was purposefully sharing misleading information that he knew was not the full story. He has more character than that. I'm glad I'm not the only one who actually fact checks and doesn't simply consume media to reinforce a preconceived bias. Trump isn't perfect, he isn't even halfway close to perfect, but it's desperate when people try to claim that he is a business failure when they dont even understand what they are reading about him.
