The masses are easily convinced that what they have is responsible for whatever is bad in their lives so after they are manipulated into support, they find themselves in much deeper misery having made decisions based on hatred and jealousy.

That's what the media and the Democrats have to understand. This is at least a fifty fifty country, and actually, in terms of positions it's probably sixty forty or more center/right, and that's in American terms, not European ones. A less flawed man, with the same message and without the racist label with which he's been branded could have put together a working class/ middle class coalition of whites, Hispanics and probably 20% or more blacks, leaving the Democrat party to the elites and the underclass.

I think it will happen. They just need to find the right populist candidate.

This is an interview with David Shor, self proclaimed Socialist, statistician, and former employee of a Democratic consulting firm working to get Democrats elected to public office. He was fired for tweeting about a paper which found that wide spread rioting helped elect Richard Nixon. Being woke means ignoring or indeed denying obvious facts, apparently. It hasn't done him any harm in terms of his career, apparently. He's all over the place in the media, and getting new clients.

Our political orientations are very different, but I agree with almost everything he says in the following interview: his analysis of the parties, what sways elections, how to create a governing majority etc. It's a brilliant analysis, imo, and if the Democrats don't want to lose the House in two years they should pay attention. I just can't believe he was the only Democrat activist who saw it.

In one moment of complete honesty, he said that ads and door to door canvassing no longer work. It's the painting of the broader narrative, which is done by the media, which will increasingly determine elections. He also says, again, very honestly, that the media is run by left leaning elites and they were the ones who were creating the narrative. They destroyed Trump personally, but they also unwittingly turned off a good segment of the white working and lower middle class, and even a good segment of the Hispanic community. Heck, Trump got more black votes than any Republican before him. The narrative they pushed, including the "Defund the Police" narrative, giving so much air time to "The Squad" and other far left politicians including Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, and running coverage of the riots, which couldn't be completely ignored, had the opposite effect on down ticket votes, and is why Republicans did much better in the House than President Trump.

I understand you. I punctuated the opinion of a well-known American. Of course, my intention was to create controversy, but in fact I have no way to oppose or agree since I do not know in depth the aspects of science education in schools in the United States. But I have to admit that his position (a notable American) greatly affects the choice of a foreigner like me, for example, from the English-speaking country to which you want to send your child for an educational and language exchange. My son went to Canada.

Five of the top ten science universities in the world are in the U.S., 1 in Australia, 1 in Germany, I in Ireland, and 2 in England (Oxford and Cambridge).

As for public schools, as Salento implied, if you live in an upper middle or upper class neighborhood, you cannot get a finer education anywhere in the world.

If you remove the scores for African Americans and Hispanics, American students outscore Europeans and in some cases even East Asians.

What left wing academics do is look at the average scores, which include all the scores from the underclass. They would never break out the scores by ethnicity for fear of being accused of racism. Easier to attack the system which produced you.

In addition to that, in Europe they test early, and students who aren't up to further academic learning are shuttled into tech schools, tourism, etc. For some of these PISA tests, those students aren't even tested. *

BTW, that's one thing we could learn from Europe. Here, children are in college prep courses who can never do college level work.

This leads to the abomination I just saw in the news about Peter Stuyvesant High School in NYC. It's a public high school which requires high test scores for entry. It's free and yet one of the finest science and math high schools in the world. Black activists are demanding open admissions on the grounds the school solidifies "white privilege". Guess what: it's 75% Asian. Razib Khan wanted to know if he's now an honorary white. :)

If you can't pass the entrance exam to a school like this then you won't be able to absorb what they're teaching. Period.

My Catholic prep school tested too, and then used the scores to "track" the students. Each track took their courses together. Girls who needed a little extra help or time got it. Those who could move quickly were challenged and wound up taking college courses in senior year. That's the way it should be, imo, but it would require admitting that nature isn't fair, and not everyone is equally intelligent. People should stop excoriating teachers for not being able to do the impossible.

Why can't people just be rational when looking at these kinds of things?

It's an old and banal story: father cheats on wife with a woman he then marries. Children side with the embittered and angry wife/mother.

I by no means condone adultery, and I know what it does to family relationships, but no partner in a marriage is ever fully to blame. Plus, she really had no grounds for complaint on moral grounds. She and Giuliani were having an affair while he was still married to his first wife. As a long time observer of the New York scene, my take on it is that Rudy has married two horrible women in a row. The third wife/former mistress, Judith Nathan, is a monster, the worst of them. That she has even further alienated his two children by the second wife should be a surprise to no one. He ultimately divorced her too, but she's getting 42,000 a month in alimony; not too bad for a former receptionist.

Like I said, absolutely no taste in women, except perhaps for the first one, even if he was a great Attorney General for the Southern District.

The daughter is no prize either; arrested forshop lifting more than once, I think, although I may be wrong about that; maybe some were hushed up. She's strange on a lot of levels, but I'll leave it at that. Whatever her alienation from her father, that kind of comment when he has a life threatening illness, indeed when anyone has a life threatening illness, is petty and in the worst possible taste. Donna Hanover did a terrible job with those kids.
