The site is in western Thessaly, and for some reason it was never really explored. I'm not clear as to why they want to explore it only with underground camera technology.

See:

This is a fragment of ceramics found there:

The article says: Mr Ronnlund said the city appears to have flourished from the fourth to the third century BC before it was abandoned — possibly because of the Roman conquest of the area.

Would the Romans have conquered this area by the 3rd century BC?

Βλοχος is not an unknown archaiological site,

is known thousands years, and the city walls are above earth and visible to common eye,
the first we worked there was from 1835, and then second attempt at 1964

simply the program used modern methods and systems, and found and map exactly the main (αστυ) city, which was tottaly out of the acropolis, outside the walls,
and that made it difficult, for previous to estimate.

the infos are giving start era around 1000 BC and end era around 1rst century BC,
if we wait we would know certainly, to whom lived there, many claim Thespians, and others a Dorian (Locroi) homeland,

Κυνος Κεφαλαι were the Makedonian ROman war decision battle happened is more North,
there is big argue about the place of the name, but it is more certain to be in the key point of mountain passage that connects Central Makedonia, with upper Makledonia (west) and Thessaly
around 1970 many swords and antique military equipment gathered there, near the old lake,
it is somewhere between West Olymp, Tittaros and Selos, for many searchers,
