What accuracy rating is your 23&Me results on? Having it on 90% (conservative) will make it more likely that you're described as "Broadly European". If you're already on 40%, you could be labeled as "Broadly European" because 23&Me is having a hard time pinning your ancestry down in one region and doesn't want to give you results that are too speculative, lest you use that misinformation elsewhere.

I've noticed a lot of 23&Me users using GEDMatch, but there seems to be some concern over how 23&Me presents their new V5 raw data. Take your MDLP results with a grain of salt if they seem outlandish.

 I'm really starting to hate this V5 chip update. So now I won't be able to get accurate results from GEDmatch either?!

Are there any other apps and tests that will have issues with it? I know that FTDNA is still incompatible with the new version.

Edit: I did a bit of digging and found this:

Do you mean GEDmatch Genesis? Because it says it's incompatible with the regular one.

You should always use the most "speculative" version; they're way too conservative.

The reason "broadly" shows up is because not enough people from your particular area/areas may have tested to act as a reference. As I said, they're very conservative.

Since I know my ancestors for 500 years back at least are from Italy, I know all my broadly Southern European is Italian from a genealogical point of view.

I'm thinking of getting the V5 for the trait and health results. If I do I'll compare my results on the gedmatch calculators and see what it shows.

I'm really suspicious of "imputation." Which is the defining characteristic of these new V5 chips : /

For our sake, they should go back to the old version of 23andme since the new version is a piece of crap.

LivingDNA, who was developing and launching a new product during the transition time between chips was the first vendor out the gate with a GSA product. Illumina represented imputation to be “very accurate” to LivingDNA, which is consequently how they represented the results to a group of genetic genealogists on a conference call in early 2017. LivingDNA was the lucky company to have the opportunity to “work the bugs out” with Illumina – said with tongue firmly in cheek. LivingDNA provides a list of papers describing their methods here.

I know for sure my LivingDNA results will be very accurate since they too are using the same GSA technology. Thankfully, because I really would like to be part of the One Family One World Project. :)
