Predicted Haplogroup is R-M512
Please give more information about this haplogroup.
Known Ruthenian (Galicia in Eastern Europe) heritage backward 300 years.
With Whit Athey's Haplogroup Predictor I got this

M512 is the same as L21. It's the typical Atlantic Celtic lineage.
Why do you use the predictor if you already know your haplogroup? What test did you take?
I'm pretty sure R-M512 is the paragroup to which R-M417 belongs, within r1a. It's broad and not very specific. I'm pretty sure R-M512 has nothing to do wit Celts. Unless I'm missing something.Originally Posted by Coriolan
You are correct, M512 is R1a1a, equivalent to M198 or M17; M412=L51 is R1b1a2a1.
But R1a1a-M512 is not a paragroup, it is a haplogroup. It's only a paragroup if you are specifically excluding some lineages, for instance "all M512 that isn't M417".
M529 is actually the equivalent of R1b-L21. M512 is R1a-M198. In other words you only know that you are R1a but without knowing your subclade or deep clade. I suppose that was a dubious Y-STR test that you order?

I did Family Tree DNA - Y-DNA111 test.
I take Haplogroup Predictor to see influence other DNA Haplogroup (DNA is pretty Colorful).
I found that my Celtic connection is in R1b Haplogroup and it is 11,2% if I understand correct!?
I wish to put From Family Tree DNA I print screen for part of R Haplogroup but I need more post.
Is there Haplogroup M512=M198=M514=L168=M17 ? The same thing?
Haplogroup M417 branch out from M512.
For R-M512 they say Presumed Positive and they recommend SNPs test.
But from R-512 there are two main branh out
YP1051 and
M417
From M417 there two more branch out
CTS4385 and
PF6162
after that there is hundred branches and SNPs test.
So I could be R-M512 or one of hundred other SNPs?
I did Family Tree DNA - Y-DNA111 test and my expectations with that Big test was Big.
Unhappily I just know that I can make 100 test to be sure which SNPs is really my.

Question, Any reason one male relative would be placed in 512 and the other 417?
Me and my father test as R-M417 on 23. His cousin(on the paternal line of course) is grouped in R-M512.
Any reason why he wasn't grouped in R-M417 with us?
