Society Europe is racist

It think discrimination and racism in Europe is less about race and more about nationalities. Some might not hate North African (brown) people but do hate morrocans for example. You won't hear people complaining about black people in general but about "those bloody Eritreans".

Even though most of Europeans are not racist,European capitalism is definitely the most racist capitalist system on earth.Other racist system are derived from European capitalist racism.

It was European colonialism that was actually racist in the 19th century and in the early 20th century. Imperial Japan was built on the European model of colonialism and the concept of the master race was incorporated into the Japanese model of colonialism. Nowadays, overt racism in Europe is geographically restricted to former communist countries where Stalinist racism is still alive. Communism's promise of racial equality did not materialize in the Soviet Union. Ethnic minorities were declared to be the enemies of the state and subject to oppressive measures similar to what Muslim minorities face in Communist China today.

imo it's just that different nationalities are often considered as different races/ethnicities. the line between those terms is blurry anyways. so in the end it's often racism eitherway. but there certainly are people who just don't like certain nationalities because of their cultures.

Japan didn't need to learn "racism" from Europe. Look at how they've always treated the Ainu. Nor did China, which has been "racist" since the Han people coalesced and began their drive to create an empire. Heck, they were "racist" against the Hakka people of southern China for centuries. Likewise, I can't imagine a more "racist" culture than that of India, where cast stratifies by color, and Brahmins, who are at the top of the pyramid, are "polluted" if the mere shadow of one of the "Untouchables", who are of course the darkest Indians, falls across them, or if an "Untouchable" touches one of their belongings.

Look what the steppe people thought of the people with whom they had to admix because clearly the invading group was male dominated.

Or how about the Hutu/Tutsi genocide just recently in Africa? Did the Europeans teach them that? Or was it just the slight difference in appearance and the large difference in socio-economic standing.

It's a sad and tragic aspect of human nature, I'm afraid.

The fact that someone links racism with European imperialism is the most stupid and easy to refute lie ever!

You see, everybody, absolutely everybody knows that the division of people into different groups/tribes/nationalities is something born with humanity during Prehistory.

And it evolved several times until this very day.
But lets be honest here. The peoples that were colonized(at least most of them) are the ones that seem to preserve the most forms of XX century nationalism.

And also look at Islamic fundamentalism or African tribalism among the nationalities, not the nation-states themselves, well also when for example a black SouthAfrican burns a Nigerian shopowner.
Han chauvinism, anti-Western/Japanese/Vietnamese/Indian... sentiment in China...

And I could go on and on...
Of course some on the left could say 'The concept of nation-state was a biproduct of European Imperialism, they learned it from Europeans'

Well... So what?? They're the ones who keep it.

Soon we will know what does the dosimeter say in 2022:

How popular it is to call every second a racist, you're talking about incomplete democracy, go to Russia then, or to North Korea, people are not tolerant, why not talk to Islamists from Afghanistan, where strangers are very welcome, especially from Israel. You talk nonsense about racism, and then it becomes disgusting.

Who's more "racist" than East Asians? Maybe Africans are racist too. Some African Americans certainly are....

There's more than enough of this everywhere. You can't single out one area of the world.
Africans from Sub Sahara are certainly the most racist along with Aframs, East Asians put it on another level, can't blame them.

Europe has more migrants than anywhere else, on that basis Europe is the least racist. Anyway real racists are those that commit hate crime, it isn't Europeans that do most of that nowadays

Europe is the least racist continent. In fact, most migrants dream of Europe and North America! The author of this thread is dishonest. And the example he uses of Eurovision is particularly misleading. It's EUROvision! Chances are, the author of the thread is blaming others for his own shortcomings.

No Europe is not racistic,
BUT WILL BE,
since newcomers, behave and want to make Europe like the sh... they come from.

No, I don't think Europeans are racist in general. It depends on what country. Eastern European countries tend to be the most racist for some reason and you can even be discriminated in a European country just for being from another European country or lets say you're an immigrant, your name is different, culture, phenotype etc .

Ottoman oppression made eastern Europeans more racist

How did Ottoman oppression turn people more racist ?

Because they were foreigners that suppressed the people not allowing them to progress in their own way and brought a different culture + religion. This also created a divide between neighbouring Balkan groups, Serbs and Bosnians, Albanians and Serbs, even Albanians and Kosovo Albanians to a lesser extent

Turkey was the biggest victim of this, they may only have 15-20% ottoman DNA but their entire culture was changed. I wonder if there are Turkish people that dont like the Ottoman, a lot of Turks don't even wear hijabs

When I was in Istanbul, the guide told us about the history of slavery in the Ottoman empire.

European slaves were considered "better" than African slaves, according to our guide.

Also, the Sultan would receive European females slaves. While his wife would received castrated black male slaves.

So racism certainly existed in the Ottoman empire, and it was actually anti-black.

They had African slaves? You mean Egyptians and Algerians?

You can see that Turkey has a fair amount of Slavic and Balkan ydna which was brought in at a young age during Ottoman era to be trained for their army. Women/girls weren't taken as much due to them not being suitable for war however the sultans/leaders did take women slaves like you mentioned
