GEDMatch Question about my wife's Ancestry and Gedmatch results

My wife was told by her father that he was 100% percent German. Her mother is 1/2 Polish, 1/2 French. Her Ancestry results indicate a high percentage of Irish. She's questioning whether her father is her biological parent. Any insights on these results?

The only way to know is for him to get tested. It will then be crystal clear, but I certainly wouldn't go by results like these, especially not the ones from gedmatch.
 
Her mother, is she French Canadian or directly from France? Because French Canadians mostly come from Western France, which is very similar to Irish DNA (if I relay on some of Maciamo's maps). Perhaps this may boost by mistake the Irish proportion.

However, I find this kind of nationalities percentages pretty dubious. Perhaps a good old family tree will bring some answers regarding her father's origins.

I'm pretty sure Irish and North German score similarly in most GEDmatch tests. What scores did her testing company [Ancestry.com, 23andme, FTDNA) give her? They usually have an accurate British/Irish cluster which can confirm if she has British/Irish ancestry or not.

The best test on GEDmatch for determining subregional ancestry is Eurogenes K36. K36 doesn't have an oracle on GEDmatch but people online have created one. If you post your wife's GEDmatch Eurogenes K36 results someone on this forum can run it through that Oracle.

I just ran the gedmatch on this for the first time in a long time. I'm sorry, but any test that says I'm only 25% Italian is full of it.

Just because someone thinks they are 100% German doesn't mean they really are. This is especially true for people from the United States. Also, if there was a non paternal event causing the discrepancy it could have occurred with her grandparents not necessarily her father. I would have him take the same Ancestry DNA test. Both my parents did and on my matches it shows they are very likely my parents.
 
Her father could still be 100% German based on the Ancestry.DNA results. Any kind of European DNA (British, Irish, Scandinavian, even Eastern European) is absorbed into the German gene pool, and these tests aren't meant to tell the difference between German, British or French ancestry because there is little if any genetic difference. They are more for discerning continental heritage, European vs Asian.
