Looking for advice on an automosal match. Ftdna estamates him as a4th-distant cousin,gedmatch says 5.2 generations. The only connesction i can see on his tree is a 5 times great grandmother who was an Elliott. Her grandfather & g grandfather, Oliver & Elias Elliott are from an ascendant line that we suspect is the same for our EKA Admiral Elliott. Oliver & our suspected guy William were sons of Elias,if this is correct it would make Admirals suspected father, John, & my matches ascendant Elizabeth, 1st cousins. Problem is we have been unable to verify a paper trail or y-dna match to confirm anyone past Admiral.
So my now convoluted question is: can we trust that this automosal match is confirming that, yes, Admirals father was John, then William, then Elias, tying us into my matches family that goes Elizabeth, then Oliver, then Elias? The matching cfm are 35 with a long of 11. The generations match up almost exact From Elias to my match & I .
