My mtdna is U5a2b5 and my maternal ancestry is from Cattolica Eraclea, Agrigento, Sicilia, my oldest maternal ancestor I found dates to the mid 1700’s from a neighbouring village Montallegro.

More likely Pan Italic so Roman is more probable than Greek in my opinion, maybe more ancient samples could solve this question.

Did you test with National Geographic? The furthest you got was U5a2b?

It could be both but I think U5a2b is more likely to be Roman than Greek, U5a2b isn’t generally found in Greeks, Greeks usually belong to other branches of U5.

In the case of Cattolica Eraclea, it has absolutely nothing to do with the Veneti but with the ancient Greek city located on the Outskirts Eraclea Minoa, Eraclea means pride of Hera and is the female variant of Herakles or Ercole.
