Hello. I uploaded my results from 23andme to MyHeritage and finally got the results.

23andme:

98.7% Western Asian
0,4% Broadly Western Asian/Middle Eastern 0.3% Sub-Saharan African

0.2% Native American/Eastern Asian
0,3% Unassigned

MyHeritage:

71.4% Western Asian
14% Nothern/Western European
9.7% Middle Eastern
4.7% Southern Asian

How come the results are so different? I do have over 900 relatives from Western Europe in the 23andme database, but still. Why is the gap so big, and which one should I trust?

Thank you.

(I have haplogroup y-dna R-M269, and mtDna I1a

I would take neither of them at face value. I don't know how those clusters are defined and what the particular methodologies are, but I'm 99,9% sure that in this case 23andme has a more encompassing "Western Asian" cluster, while the "Northern/Western European" and "Southern Asian" components in the MyHeritage results denote Central Asian admixture that arrived in the Near East with the Iranian migrations. The MyHeritage "Western Asian" cluster must be more narrow and hence doesn't include those Iranian components. It's almost certainly not actual European ancestry in any case.

These tests often have a slight bias in favor of people of European descent because that's what most of their customers are.
