It was Slavic before and today it is dominated by R1b clans and J2b clans.
All these "medieval" and post-medievial R1b and J2b are from a region that today is R1b and J2b (Kukes). There is even one I2 sample, which is probably assimilated Slav, this region once had strong Slavic presence, still does on the Shar mountains(google Gorani). One of the female samples even clusters with Macedonians.

In Korca we have one J2a(assimilated Greek) and one R1b, Korca is one of the regions with least E-V13 in Albania. Same applies to Kukes, where J2b and R1b are the top lineages.

The only Ottoman sample in central Albania which is R1b has Vlach autosomal DNA, and clusters with Bulgarians and Romanians.

Geography and context matters, don't expect an honest approach from that individual. Mentally un-European, vulgar manners, low IQ.
Prizren and West Kosova was Albanian. Do you have any evidence that Kukes was Slavic until then? Kukes county surely wasnt?

I was wrong about the Kukes corridor, it does not have much Slavic toponyms, but Prizren was dominated by Slavs until it was healed back to native DNA. The former Slavic population still survives in the mountains to the south.

Leka (Lekas in Skylitzes Continuatus) was a Paulician leader in the 11th century Byzantine Balkans in the territory of contemporary Bulgaria.
He is mentioned in the History of Michael Attaleiates and in Skylitzes Continuatus partly based on information from Attaleiates. Lekas was a member of the Paulician Christian sect. He lived in Philippopolis (Plovdiv) and was married to a Pecheneg woman.[1] The Pechenegs north of the Danube in the 11th century had been influenced by Paulician ideas. In alliance with them and the Paulician leader Dobromir (Dobromiros in Skylitzes Continuatus) he launched a revolt in the eastern Balkans in 1078-79 in an attempt to become an independent ruler. In the revolt he killed Michael, bishop of Serdica (Sofia). Dobromir expanded in the region of Mesembria (coastal Bulgaria).[2] As the new Emperor Nikephoros III Botaneiates organized an army to send against them, they accepted the rule of the emperor and were given many gifts and privileges.
The mention of the Paulician Leka is the first mention of the Albanian name Leka and indicates that this individual may have been an Albanian.[2] As such, it is the first reference of a medieval Albanian by name by the same author (Attaleiates) who mentions medieval Albanians for the first time in Byzantine literature. The attestation of a Paulician Albanian suggests that Paulicians had become popular among Albanian groups. Toponymy between Sofia and Plovdiv in the 10th and 11th centuries indicates that (Proto-)Albanian populations had migrated from their native lands to the eastern Balkans before the era of Leka.[3] The next mention of the name Leka is three centuries later in the names of the brothers Leka (ancestor of Lekë Dukagjini) and Pal Dukagjini who held the city of Lezha.[4]

    Hmmmmmmmmm
Hristo's conclusion is backward, because Albanian autochonous cannot be questioned, he thinks an early group of Albanians migrated to western Bulgaria.
Really fascinating find, thanks for this.
"As we have already stressed, the mass evacuation of the Albanians from their triangle is the only effective course we can take. In order to relocate a whole people, the first prerequisite is the creation of a suitable psychosis. This can be done in various ways." - Vaso Cubrilovic

It was kind of random. In the Bulgarian-Serbian border zone I was reading the histories of various villages. Some had founders, or early settlers with names like Leka, Kole, Joka (Gjoka?), Buzadzhi, Lale-Lalin. So I was simply googling to see if Leka is a common Bulgarian name and this info showed up.

I find it more interesting that a Bulgarian historian thinks there is Albanian toponyms from 10th-11th century between Plodiv and Sofia. I am sure that's not the case at present. Would be interesting to contact Hristo Saldzhiev and see what these historical toponyms are, were called.

It's one article, from Bulgarian wikipedia, nothing in the paragraph has been edited or recombined. It's word for word. Bulgarians as light years ahead as they are of of your village style historians, they still suffer from the famous incompetence that plagues the Balkans. What does not make sense is three different theories squeezed into one paragraph. One explanation talks about the village possibly being from a Turk named Musa, another mentions a 5th century settlement Muzaca near a watch tower by the Via Militaris road. And bizarrely they mentioned Italian Musaccio as being proof of Bulgarian(Turkic) migration to Italy(7th or 8th century event - Bulgars in Lombardy learn something). What is obvious, it is that they are not sure of the origins and threw three different explanations, because they are not sure.

Musaccio though is actually an Arberesh surname that derives from Albanian not Bulgar tribesman. I am relying on a google translator, so maybe I am interpreting the Musaccio part wrong.

Postoje në mënyrë që njerëzit të shohin se si ti merr një artikull Wiki në Bullgarisht, e përkthen atë me Google në Anglisht dhe pretendon në këtë mënyrë të shkruash Historinë e Shqipërisë!!!!!! The Encheleans originate in Budva ( Montenegro ) part of the "proper illyrians " ....before fleeing to lake Ohrid
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...nturies_BC.png
Cadmus was their king in Budva
The name Sesarethii was used by Strabo as an alternative name for the Enchelei
Mentioned in Budva from 800 to 600BC ...............I assume they fled to Lake Ohrid after this period

The Kukes samples are mostly from the Kukes corridor(where the white Drin river passes). It is also a location that had Komani(Latinised Illyrians) culture sites. The area did not experience Slavic intrusion. And the Ottoman era samples cluster closer to Illyrians than modern Albanians.

Continuity looks pretty done and dusted boys.

I find it more interesting that a Bulgarian historian thinks there is Albanian toponyms from 10th-11th century between Plodiv and Sofia. I am sure that's not the case at present. Would be interesting to contact Hris and see what these historical toponyms are, were called.
Probably just Albanian migrations to Bulgaria and there was also a Arbanas village there

Gheg-Tosk split is much older than 10th-11th century. The dialect split is believed to be ancient going back to the period around 400-600 AD.

I'll say this though: Greeks and Albanians are very different in origin (from Bronze Age). During the Iron Age, they started converging closer and closer, until in modern times they became almost indistinguishable.

But, Proto-Illyrians clearly have a very different origin than Proto-Greeks, so I don't understand this whole "Graeco-Albanian" thing.
