Salento. I will not deny that I am anxious for the inclusion of more samples from Italy, including Etruscans, and for the release of the "Regional Aarchaeogenetics" map of Italy. The Iberians have many overlaps with the Italians and I, as aIberian-descendant , have many overlaps. Waiting, as like you, Italy and Etruscans together, coming soon :) :)(y)

@ Duarte : also ... no Iapigi (no Messapi), ... no Etruschi ... :)

The origin of the Messapii is debated. The most credited theory is that they came from Illyria as one of the Illyrian tribes who settled in Apulia and that they emerged as a sub-tribe distinct from the rest of the Iapyges. It seems that the Iapyges spread northwards from the Salento.[8][9]

The pre-Italic settlement of Gnatia was founded in the fifteenth century BC during the Bronze Age. It was captured and settled by the Iapyges, as they occupied large tracts of territory in Apulia. The Messapii developed a distinct identity from the Iapyges. Rudiae was first settled from the late ninth or early eighth centuries BC. In the late sixth century BC, it developed into a much more important settlement. It flourished under the Messapii, but after their defeat by Rome it dwindled and became a small village. The nearby Lupiae (Lecce) flourished at its expense. The Messapi did not have a centralised form of government. Their towns were independent city-states. They had trade relationships with the Greek cities of Magna Graecia.

@Duarte That’s why I wrote ... “no Iapigi (no Messapi) ...”

otherwise I wouldn’t have added the Messapi :)

It’s confusing because there are contradicting theories:

... The Iapygians were an Indo-European people who inhabited Apulia in classical antiquity. They lived in the eponymous region Iapygia and were divided in three populations: the Daunians, Peucetians and Messapians.

Their land was annexed by the Roman Republic, and they were eventually Latinized and assimilated into Roman culture...

Thanks for the additional informations. You're right dear friend. The Messapians are just an overlamping with the Illyrians. The Illyrians that appears in your and in mine timelines are just overlapings. The ideal will be the inclusion of origial samples of Messapians and Iapygians peoples to fill in the gaps that exist between the north and the south on the Archeogenetic map of Italy. Big hug :)(y):)

most of the pre tribes of the apulia area seem to be umbrian
The region was previously inhabited by Italic peoples of Southern Italy; among them are the Ausones/Oscans, Sabines, Lucani, Paeligni, Bruttii, Campanians, Aequi, Samnites and Frentani.

the biggest of the 3 tribes the Daunians, Peucetians and Messapians.

The DNA-Spotlight reminds me of the NatGeo Genius-Matches. NatGeo uses the mtDNA and or the Y Chromosome.
I don’t know what criteria MTA is implementing.

vburW0Y.jpg

from NatGeo:
... We determine your Genius Matches through the analysis of either mitochondrial or Y-chromosome DNA, two parts of the DNA which are inherited directly, without mixing, from one ancestor in any given generation.

Furthermore, if you go back 150,000 years, all seven billion humans share one single, common maternal ancestor: A Mitochondrial Eve.
Her male counterpart was Y- chromosome Adam.

Actually, any two individual people that ever lived may share a match (an Eve or an Adam) at a more recent point in time.

First maternal cousins, for example, share a match at the grandmother level.
Although it’s true that every two living people share a common ancestor, in reality we share multiple ancestors.

Some of these common ancestors lived centuries ago, while others lived and migrated across the earth millennia ago.

... estimate when in time you shared a direct female or direct male ancestor with a famous historical genius ...

The DNA-Spotlight reminds me of the NatGeo Genius-Matches. NatGeo uses the mtDNA and or the Y Chromosome.
I don’t know what criteria MTA is implementing.

from NatGeo:

Dear Salento.
I think that MTA consider just the autosomal matches with the DNA of ancient samples. At least is what I can see in my specific case.
Cheers :)

My Spotlights are Mummies from the Late and Ptolemaic Kingdoms in Ancient Egypt. LOL

 if NatGeo uses Haplogroups scaling for Genius Matches, they must know for sure, 100%, Ramses II and King Tut Y Haplogroups (Paternal Matches), but NatGeo doesn’t specify it to us.

They don't specify it in any of the Genius Matches, maybe they want to avoid controversies.

my medical ......only above 1.0
