Very cool Salento (y)

THX @mlucas. The VKK538 seems to be from Northern Italy and is, of all of them, the one that comes closest to me. Probably Northern Italians have an excellent match with him, much better than mine, I think.

It’s said that Vikings to have arrived in America first than Columbus. Who knows some ancestors of these VKK Pugliesi from Foggia were not among them. :cool-v::unsure::)

These samples are not representative for all of Puglia.

They are partly North African Saracen/Moors, I am not sure the Italian part is even from people native to Foggia. Because if they were indeed deported from Sicily, they would be medieval Sicilians with a Moorish component. Many of the Muslims that were sent to Foggia were already mixed with native Sicilians, who were taken as wives, and converted to Islam. These are probably some of their descendants. If you have some relation to one of them, it is probably broadly through the C6 component.

I was just having fun with VK534 :)

I knew some of the Foggia Viking samples had more N. Africa than the average Pugliese, some of us don’t get any at all, ...
