April 6 2019 - Trying to figure out which testing company kit should be used? Combine all your test data into one superkit that will give you the best of all worlds every time you use it! New on Tier 1

I just noticed this when I logged into gedmatch genesis. Now they are offering the ability to combine your raw data on Tier 1 membership. However this is already achievable with DNAkit Studio, for free. Moreover, gedmatch does not support Genographic CSV files, which DNAkit studio does. Thus, you probably would not be able to combine it with your data on Tier 1. Nevertheless, I'm tempted to procure Tier 1, to test if combining 23andme, and AncestryDNA, produces the same results, if I were to combine the two on DNAkit studio.

I tried it out, and the results are consistent with what I get with DNAkit Studio raw data merging:

This is combining 23andme, AncestryDNA, and LivingDNA

I originally had combined National Geographic, 23andme, AncestryDNA, and Living DNA, on DNAkit studio a few months ago. Two files were produced that were in separate formats; one in 23andme format, the other in Dodecad format. I uploaded both to Gedmatch, and compared the separately formatted files. I noticed there was still some non-overlapping areas in black on the chromosome painting. Thus I merged the two combined merged raw data files that were separately formatted files into one, with this tool. Here are the results, using the same calculator from above:

Orcale
# Population (source) Distance
1 C_Italian (Dodecad) 6.85
2 S_Italian_Sicilian (Dodecad) 6.86
3 Sicilian (Dodecad) 7.01

5 O_Italian (Dodecad) 8.35

Oracle - 4
Using 1 population approximation:
1 C_Italian_Dodecad @ 7.371545
2 S_Italian_Sicilian_Dodecad @ 7.503708
3 Sicilian_Dodecad @ 7.675726
4 Greek_Dodecad @ 8.199529
5 O_Italian_Dodecad @ 9.072433

It comes out virtually the same as just combining the 3 basic DNA tests right into the new Gedmatch tool. Amazing!
