IMHO you should have a closer look at your genetic matches first (not on Gedmatch). What company did you use for testing?
I would look for the ones without mixed heritage(usually most of non-American testees) and your common matches. Family names will be quite telling.
Look for "4th cousins-distant cousins" (10cM-->0.13-0.14% and around) first. Then move to closer or more distant ones(non-Americans) and check whether they fall in a specific geographical region.
