We all know that Y-DNA Haplogroup I originated in Europe, but we don't know exactly where. What is your take on this? I suppose somewhere north of the Black Sea, perhaps Ukraine!

There is this paper, which at this point is a bit obsolete, for example M227's placement in the tree has been fleshed out better since this paper. In fact most of I-M170 subclades are now better understood thanks to NGS testing. But this paper is still worth the read!

Saw it myself today and didn't know if it was worth reading. Just skimmed a bit and it looks good, thanks!
