Chernobyl redux? And this was considered a world power. It was and is a third world power with a deadly arsenal.
If the world as we know it ends through technology, it will more likely be through sheer incompetence than through malice or aggression.

In somewhat related news the French government is increasing the area around nuclear power plants which will receive free iodine pills. Smells to me like their testing might show more radiation is escaping and spreading further than they anticipated or they're just realizing that given human incompetence sooner or later there will be a breech somewhere. It would be more honest to just tell people that.
