Here, I'm about equally distant to the 1015 Etruscan sample and the R1 Proto-Villanovan, but again, closest mainly to the Szolad samples. The values are much higher than in mytrueancestry.com

Amazing the difference in the values. I wonder what mta did differently?

Thanks, Jovialis. :)

Thanks Angela. I agree with you :)

Now I'm running your consolidated set with all the ancient samples including Iberian ones.

Well, I'm stumped. :(

Not because all the Iberians showed up, I hasten to add, but because the values for some of the samples from Antonio et al are different, and, for goodness sakes', although SZ43 is the closest, I'm more similar to the Illyrians/Dalmatians and Scythians and Thracians than I am to a lot of the Antonio et al samples. Plus, SZ28 showed up, which I don't remember ever being close to before.

How can that be? I know they settled Avars in northern Italy, but Scythians?

Wait a minute, the Scythians didn't deform women's heads like the Huns and Avars did they? :petrified:

I'm not so sure I want to be so related to them if they did. :sad-2: Hideous practice.

SHOUT OUT TO SALENTO!

At least Corsica is where it belongs, and the rest looks reasonable. However, adding the modern samples seems to push the ancients away. Also, the darn Scythians are intruding again! :)

You shouldn't be so far from Romagna, Stuvane!

Grugni didn't even sample in Romagna, or Umbria for that matter. In fact, I don't think any academic paper has sampled there. Did the creator just use people he knew???

Who are Italia Insubria and Italia Ager Gallicus, from what papers? Other than the Proto-Villanovan, they're my closest ancients.

Is the Vucedol Late Neolithic, i.e. pre-steppe?

Wait till my husband sees my distance from Italia Calabria. He'll say it explains everything. Much closer to his Campania side, but certainly not close. Opposites attract indeed. :)

This doesn't make sense. My value for the R1015 Etruscan is much further than on other calculators, even this one without moderns, and my R474 Etruscan is closer.

Maybe I did something wrong???

Hi Angela.

I obtained the Iberian, Illyrian and Scythian coordinates from the BAM files stored at the following links:

Iberians

https://www.ebi.ac.uk/ena/browser/view/PRJEB30874

Illyrians
https://www.ebi.ac.uk/ena/browser/view/PRJEB22652

Scythians
https://www.ebi.ac.uk/ena/browser/view/PRJEB27628

The K12b coordinates were obtained using the WGS Extract and DNA Admix Studio V2.4 tools. BAM files converted to txt, recommended WGS standard. If Jovialis wants to, he can check the coordinates of the Scythians and Illyrians (only seven samples), because he is using the same tools as me.
I think there's nothing wrong with coordinates, but someone else's QA is always welcome.

Scythians and Illyrians do not appear to me, on Dodecad K12b, but both are good "matches" to me on MTA. Why? I don't know!!!

@Angela

Note that there are blank spaces in the posted coordinates that must be removed before data adding to Vahaduo. These spaces appear when data are paste in the Eupedia site. The data copyed and pasted on the Eupedia site, lose the formatting from the original file. In Eupedia appears the white spaces, unfortunately. Try the file from the link below, which is 'clean':

Very cool, torzio. I tried to vote for your post, but unfortunataly I can vote no more today. Cheers :) (y)

Hope you don't think I was implying it's your fault!!! You can't be blamed for my "weird" ancestry results :) The vagaries of these calculators are also not your responsibility.

It's frustrating though to get such different distances depending not only on the calculator but on the combination of sources.

Although, most of the samples to which I'm close appear again and again. Different order, and sometimes different distances, but many of the same samples. SZ28 and SZ31 are new, but looking at them they should probably have shown up before, as they're the same mix of TSI pulled northwest by IBS and Great Britain.

I think I have to take a break. I'm forgetting what I tested and what I didn't. :)

Anyway, these are my husband's K15 ancient results with the Grugni sample coordinates provided by Salento.

Sicily (and Malta) is a surprise, but Calabria and Campania are correct. I stopped at a distance of 25 because after that, what's the point.

R850 shows up earlier and R437 later than on other calculators. I give up! :)

and why are my results nearly always under 10 ....while others have many over 10 ............

Hi torzio,

I don't have this data, but tomorrow (for me, in Brazil, are January 6th, 10:34 PM now, LOL) I will search and return to you.

Is that date not Befana date.......when the gifts are opened?

A theory connects the tradition of exchanging gifts to an ancient Roman festivity in honour of Ianus and Strenia (in Italian a Christmas gift used to be called strenna), celebrated at the beginning of the year, when Romans used to give each other presents.

Hi, Angela. I suspected that my areas had few samples. Anyway here are the new results of the Dodecad k12 b with only ancient samples from the Duarte list (post #342) :)

Don't worry, Angela. Each calculator has its own algorithm and, as we have seen in the experiments we have done with Dodecad K12b, the results vary greatly depending on the populations in the data source. It all depends on the algorithm and the quality of the source data. I have you as a teacher and I respect my teachers very much. Since you said that Dodecad K12b is the best calculator and that it is the one that returns the results most consistent with scientific papers, I bought the idea that Dodecad 12b is the best calculator. Your experience is my reference. Cheers :)
