What test would you consider the best for seeing your closest related modern populations? Eurogenes K15, K36? Something else?

I am also interested about the answer to this question.

In my particular case, Dodecad World 9 is the most accurate. The comparison of 4 populations seems a pretty good description of my four grandparents ...

Bump up of this thread. Is there any (data-based) opinion of which are the "best" calculators? (best understood as most precise, given a base population, given a certain time).

I see Eurogenes K36 is used a lot, but also K13 and K47 are discussed. Also some Dodecads. And here also Gedrosia (all available at Gedmatch, and even more there).

So, I do not which to use.

I see that the 23andme ancestry report is quite in line with K36 and K47, at least the broad picture (not the specific numbers, but not too bad anyway). And I have been surprised by the composition, since it gives me much more Scandinavian, Baltic, Finnish and North German that I would expect (I would have expected an overwhelming Mediterranean composition). In fact, adding up the North European components, I have more than Iberian component! If I add all Mediterranean components, they still dominate, but not by much.

I have been told by a friend that this could mean I have some Goth (Visigoth) ancestors, which established overall Europe, and in particular in Catalonia, since Goths were Baltic, originally. But I do not know how to check.

However, despite the calculators being overly consistent with each other, the Oracles are not. Different Oracles give me different combinations, very dissimilar to each other, that minimize the distance.

And for this reason, first I would like to find the right calculator. Please help! :)

I get where you're coming from. According to my tests I seem to be very closely related to Hungarians, Austrians, and Romanians. Even though these people aren't Slavic or South Slavic. Although it's been discussed on this forum before, I've always firmly believed South Slavs are still in large part native Illyrian, but according to my tests I'm closer related to Germans than to Albanians. While none of this is bad, It's still genuinely surprising. However, I've also done my K15 which (if I did the coordinates right) puts me closer to Balkan natives than northerners, so it's all somewhat confusing.

Funny enough, I also believe my Germanic component is probably from Ostrogoths, but honestly who knows.

It also gives me Germanic components in K47 and Celts (?) I doubt it has anything to do with it.

I still don't understand what it is "West Med", all I know is that it is more dominant among Sardinians.

Dodecad World 9 does a good job for me. All my ancestors immigrated to the USA(1890-1905) from rural regions of Western Sicily (Trapani, Palermo, Agrigento). Top 10 Single and mixed mode populations provided.

Don't forget, Hungarians, Austrians, and Romanians had a similar 'base' population to Balkanoids. They absorbed a lot of Slavs as well, linguistics notwithstanding.
