I can’t use ADC: 0.25x because R15 is in Vikingia :)

Dodecad K12b Italian samples vs Antonio et al 2019 samples:

This comparison doesn't make so much sense. You're comparing the results of the samples in an amateur old tool (K12b) with the study that has analized and released these samples.

This comparison doesn't make so much sense. You're comparing the results of the samples in an amateur old tool (K12b) with the study that has analized and released these samples.

Perhaps you fail to see that these old amateur samples have good fits with the samples from the new study. Almost all of them under 5, to use your standard.

Thanks for that post, it seems the Sicilians and Southern Italians, Central Italians map into the Roman samples very well!!!!!. North Italians do so to, but quite the same as the others. Of course, if that 13.97 Marker for Northern Italian is the most distance fit, then the Nordic populations I would hypothesize are going to be much, much, much further away. Would that be a correct interpretation.

Ok, Help from my Fellow Americans of Italian ancestry. I have only been on GEDMATCH about 1 month and I am a "Commoner" at Eupedia. Can someone provide a little more clarification on the instructions that Angela gave in the Original post. I would like to run my raw DNA from Ancestry against the ancient Roman samples.

Millie Grazie,

Thanks for the comments. Sorry I got the the names mixed up. My problem was thinking you could get a plot of the results on the Antonio et al. (2019, Figure 2) from that program. I did get results. So again thanks. I will try to be clearer with my questions in the future.

Once again, thanks and Cheers.

I have no idea who you are or if these results are "yours". What I do know is that R 850 is half italic and half Chalcolithic Anatolian. Would that describe your purported ancestry?

My husband does get a hit to 850 but I had to increase to 50 and even 75 to get to some samples, because he has so many reasonably good matches.

Seems like about 55-60% Iron Age and Neolithic, without taking into account the Iron Age ancestry in the Late Antiquity and Medieval Era people. So much for no continuity in Italy from the Iron Age

Angela:

Cool results, Iron Age would be 900 BC to Imperial era around 27 BC. I would think some folks on some of these other non Eupedia DNA forums are not going to like your results being so tied to Iron Age Romans. Of course, this is just an hypothesis and not dogmatic statement of fact.

Here are my matches. I didn't expect close matches between a modern Belgian and ancient Italians, but I do get a few close ones from the Late Antiquity and Medieval periods. My closest Iron Age match is R435 (Palestrina Colombella), but the distance is the same as between me and modern Aosta Valley, Ireland or Scotland.

My closest matches cluster between French, North Italians and Tuscans on the PCA plot.

EDIT: Btw, I get 17% Central/South Italian at Living DNA, which slightly more Italian admixture than the Walloon average. My cousin is so far the highest with 20% (note that we do not have any recent Italian ancestry). Some Flemings get 0% while others get as much as 10%. There is definitely more Italian DNA (undoubtedly of Roman origin) among French-speaking Belgians. My Y-DNA also matches those of ancient Latin samples for the deep clade and my modern matches are mostly in central Italy.

Yes, it all makes sense.

Some of our North Italian members are getting hits of around 4 for some of the Iron Age samples, and Southern Italians get similarly close matches to others.

Some of us get our highest scores with Balkan Bronze Age. I'm wondering if they could perhaps represent some sort of Italic/Celtic source population.

note that I3313 is a female sample

I3313, Bronze Age, 1500-900 BCE

http://biorxiv.org/content/early/2017/05/09/135616
doi: https://doi.org/10.1101/135616

I3313
mtDNA: HV0e

the age of the sample would clearly make ( or a very good chance) this sample Illyrian/Dalmatian as the earliest "illyrians" appear in Noricum ( east Austria ) circa 1600BC
