List of prominent scientists who have gone on record as saying that Covid 19 could have escaped from the Wuhan Lab.\
https://twitter.com/antonioregalado/...58950051553286
Meanwhile, The New York Times continues to insist that such allegations are completely unfounded.
WHY THE HELL do they think so many Chinese doctors from that lab disappeared???
You don't need a PHD in microbiology to figure some of these things out; you just need common sense in looking at the facts.
That's why I no longer subscribe and don't pay any attention to what they put out.
P.S. VERY IMPORTANT
Don't take the Astrozenica vaccine. In comparison to the others it does very badly against the more deadly "South African" strain.

Some alternatives:
- Lab "created" the virus, which was spread out (un)intentionally.
- A natural virus was released on purpose.
- A natural virus was being studied, and (accidently) "escaped" from the lab.
- None of the above.
Afaik, the first alternative would have been discarded, but not the others. One of the last two seems more likely.
Forced to be, I'd guess the virus was being studied and escaped by accident. But who knows!
I just found some of the many related articles I shared with fellows along the pandemic. Some info could be "outdated". Don't know.

What I've read is that AstraZeneca vaccine would not protect against mild and moderate illness caused by the South African strain, but it supposedly avoids hospitalization and death, which would be something.P.S. VERY IMPORTANT

The immune response after Moderna vaccine would be stronger. It uses mRNA, as Pfizer. Still...
Headline of Financial Times: "Moderna is developing a new vaccine after it warned that its current jab is far less effective against the South African variant."

Moderna's (as likely Pfizer's) is less effective against the South African strain, but it would still provide sufficient protection.

This is an interesting article about it.

Idiots...let them get it and take their chances. It will be natural selection at work.
All hospitalizations and death certificates should indicate whether the person refused the vaccine.
We don't want to screw up the analysis of efficacy of various vaccines.

This is only partially vaccinated, BTW. Meaning, only one of two doses administered. Well, I guess this summer will be shot too:

They really need to step up their game, cut all the stupid rules for who gets it first, and mass produce it faster!
The USA will be fine, but the rest of the world will lag behind. Will some of these other 3rd world countries that do not display data, be able to achieve this goal, even in our lifetimes?!
What is up with Canada? Is Trudeau this incompetent, that it will take 8 years to vaccinate a country of only 37 million people?
I was overjoyed until I read this part.Pfizer’s Vaccine Works Well With 1 Dose and Can Be Stored More Easily
Published in The Lancet on Thursday and drawing from a group of 9,100 Israeli health care workers, the study showed that Pfizer’s vaccine was 85 percent effective 15 to 28 days after receiving the first dose. Pfizer and BioNTech’s late-stage clinical trials, which enrolled 44,000 people, showed that the vaccine was 95 percent effective if two doses were given three weeks apart.
Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the nation’s leading expert on infectious diseases and an adviser to President Biden, said at a White House news conference on the pandemic on Friday that the results of the study are not significant enough to change the U.S. recommendations.
He pointed out that the people in the study were on the younger and healthier side and the researchers could not say how long the protection from one shot of the vaccine would last. He also said it was possible that a less-than-optimal dose might not kill the most powerful variants of the virus, theoretically allowing them to spread more quickly in the population.
https://www.nytimes.com/live/2021/02...19-coronavirus
^^16.9 million have been fully vaccinated. We have approximately 230 million left to go, to reach 75%. Truly a Herculean task...
Good article.
The coronavirus is here to stay - here's what that means
https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-00396-2
Ultimately, this is what needs to be done:
How many more people who are willing to be vaccinated must die, due to the un-willing queued before them?As Israel Reopens, ‘Whoever Does Not Get Vaccinated Will Be Left Behind’
“Getting vaccinated is a moral duty. It is part of our mutual responsibility,” said the health minister, Yuli Edelstein. He also has a new mantra: “Whoever does not get vaccinated will be left behind.”
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/18/w...ne-reopen.html
I agree with the health minister.
If most of these idiots don't get vaccinated we won't reach the 75% which would confer herd immunity.
Fine, let them get out of the queue for now, but the time may come when sanctions would have to be imposed for not getting vaccinated.
Enough is enough.
A young family lives down the road from me. The local paper/gazette says the mother refuses to get her children vaccinated and plans to homeschool them forever I guess. That's just great. This is an educated person. Where is the common sense? Does she know what diphtheria does? Rheumatic fever? I didn't get those two but I got every other "childhood" disease, and it was no picnic. A adult getting some of even the more "innocuous" ones can die, or become sterile from something like mumps.
I grew up on stories of how my uncle Elio on my father's side died of diphtheria when he was an infant, and my mother's brother went blind from another "childhood" illness. An aunt died in childbirth because she gave birth at home, hemorrhaged, and no doctor was around, just the local midwife. If I have to hear one more new agey mother bleat about giving birth at home into a freaking tub full of water with candles around and classical music, I may heave. This is a spoiled, selfish generation which has never really suffered as our ancestors did; that's why they're so naïve and lacking in common sense.
Jovialis/Angela: I was on a more political forum and the issue of the COVID-19 vaccine and potential travel restrictions came up. I am a Political Independent with Conservative/Libertarian views on most issues. With respect to Judicial philosophy, my hero was my Fellow American of Sicilian Ancestry Antonin Scalia (Father was from Caltanissetta Province) and Mother I assume from Sicily as well, but perhaps maybe Southern mainland regions (not sure). Some posters of course were screaming about travel restrictions for people not getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Mine you this is a forum with people that are Conservative and I suggested that not allowing someone to travel on an airplane would in my view be Constitutional under a Originalist interpretation (i.e. Scalia juris prudence) since the Federal Government as jurisdiction over US Airways. In addition, any travel by air from One state to another de facto involves Interstate Commerce, which is 100% under the jurisdiction of the Federal Government (Article 1, Congress).
I do remember this from my Civics classes years ago (do they still teach that to kids today?). So somebody doesn't want the vaccine, you can't get on a damn airplane. Period. Now travelling by Car to another state may be harder to regulate. However, air travel, 100% the Feds can regulate. In 2019, 93 million US citizens travelled abroad (I was one of them). I have seen pre-Covid stats that every day in the USA, 1.7 million people board airlines.
So you want to travel? Do you have a vaccine? Simple yes or no. Yes, you travel by air, no, you don't end of discussion.
So now they are talking about a third booster shot needed to combat the new variants. This is greatly demoralizing, and frustrating to say the least.
Most people are struggling to get the first shot!

Exactly. I was on the phone today trying to book my first shot and all the computers went down! I'm getting really demoralized.
Apparently the Johnson and Johnson shot is a one time deal and works against the new variants just as well as the old variant. Maybe I should be glad I didn't get an appointment for the Pfizer one.
^^I hope by the time I will be able to get the second shot, I will be able to plan a third one as well. But It would have to be deemed necessary within the next three weeks of when I take it.

I received my first Pfizer shot, I feel good!
Congratulations Jovialis. I have no idea when I will be vaccinated. My mother-in-law, who is 84 years old, was vaccinated with the AstraZeneca / Oxford vaccine. My wife's first cousin, a front-line health professional who, curiously, is also my cousin on my maternal grandfather's side (maybe 3rd or 4rd degree) also wasvaccinated with AstraZenecaOxford. Three months from now, according to the laboratory's guidance, they should take the second shot.
