There's a second paper (Rivollat et al. 2020) about ancient France.

Ancient genome-wide DNA from France highlights the complexity of interactions between Mesolithic hunter-gatherers and Neolithic farmers

"Starting from 12,000 years ago in the Middle East, the Neolithic lifestyle spread across Europe via separate continental and Mediterranean routes, which eventually overlapped in western Europe. Genomes from early European farmers have shown a clear Near Eastern/Anatolian genetic affinity with limited contribution from hunter-gatherers. However, no genomic data is available from modern-day France, where both routes converged, as evidenced by a mosaic cultural pattern. Here we present new genome-wide data from 101 individuals from 12 sites covering today’s France and Germany from the Mesolithic (N=3) to the Neolithic (N=98) (7000-3000 BCE). Using the genetic substructure observed in European hunter-gatherers, we characterise diverse patterns of admixture in different regions, consistent with both routes of expansion. Western early European farmers show a higher proportion of distinctly western hunter-gatherer ancestry compared to central/south-eastern farmers. Our data highlight the complexity of the biological interactions during the Neolithic expansion by revealing major regional variations."

I have reorganised the Excel table S1 to read the haplogroups more easily. Neolithic Stuttgart stands out by being entirely composed of Y-haplogroups F and H2 ! No G2a at all! Just on the other side of the Rhine in Alsace, Neolithic tribes were almost completely I2a1 (with one C1a2). Can this be explained by high rates of polygamy among local chieftains? That goes against the common idea of egalitarianism among Neolithic farmers.

The PCA plot of the samples tested in relation with other Mesolithic and Neolithic genomes.

The Stuttgart-Mühlhausen samples (SMH) who were made entirely of Y-haplogroups F and H2 plot within the Neolithic SE Europe and Hungary cluster. On the other hand, the I2a1 + C1a2 group in Obernai, Alsace (OBN) plot within the British Isles and Iberia cluster.

The QpAdm shows that all Mesolithic genomes from France, Germany and Britain are 100% of the Villabruna type (WHG). In contrast, Iberian Mesolithic samples also have EHG and Goyet Q2.

Here are various Neolithic European samples. We see that the H2 Stuttgart-Mühlhausen samples (SMH) have very little WHG (about 5%), but the I2a1 Obernai farmers across the Rhine have 20 to 35% of WHG. The I2a2a1b Tangermünde sample (TGM009) from Saxony-Anhalt only has 25% of Anatolia.

Good point. That shows how ethnically fragmented Neolithic Germany (+ Alsace) was. Some I2a tribes with considerable WHG, some H2 tribes with almost no WHG, other G2a tribes and E1b1b tribes...

The samples from Bergheim (BERG) in Alsace were a blend of E1b1b (x4), I2 (x1) I2a1a2 (x3) and I2a2b1 (x1). Berheim is only 35 km south of Obernai, which didn't have any E1b1b. Of course the period is not exactly the same (5200-4300 BCE for Obernai vs 4300-3600 BCE for Bergheim), so it looks like E1b1b arrived later in the region.

It seems confirming that the Y-H2 neolithic men are tightly associated with the Danubian farmers come soon from Anatolia along numerous Y-G2a2a, seen until Normandy Neolithic; Gurgy spite considered as meeting of Danubian and Chassean post-Cardial neolithic people, shows no H2 (or little?), and its G is Y-G2a2b, I suppose it's more Cardial? But Halberstad shows both G2a2 sorts so, we have here only some familial aspect concerning some places (eg Gurgy) ?

Do you know if this H2 clade is found in West Asia and/or South Asia?

I am not too knowledged on the matter.
But I read Y-H2 was rather a neolithic marker of Europe, come with other Y lineages (the most: Y-G2a) from Anatolia. In Sourh Asia, it seems the subclades are rather Y-H1 (few come with Roms into Europe) and Y-H3, even if we could believe H2 came from an upstream lineage from India, perhaps through Iran?.
In ancient DNA it seems (to me) that Y-H2 spite present too in Iberia, was rather a LBK marker (Danubian farmers) than a Cardial one, but I can mistake. ATW it was better represented during Neolithic times than today, when it 's very seldom. I think it's seldom in West Asia too. But other forumers could say more about this stuff. Threads exist here about ancient Sardinia and Sicilia too; I have not read all the stuff, maybe there were some Y-H2 there?

there is a clean split between H2-P96 and HM2826 which is ancestral to both H1 and H3, the Indian clades

fascinating 👍
to which branch of y haplogroup H
Romani in europe belong to ?

Ok i check it out
Romani in europe mainly belong
To H-m82 branch ( which is different from the european neolithic branch we see in ancient remains)🤔

to complete Kingjohn, the extract of Wiki
Haplogroup H (Y-DNA), also known as H-L901/M2939 is a Y-chromosome haplogroup.
The primary branch H1 (H-M69) and its subclades is one of the most predominant haplogroups amongst populations in South Asia, particularly its descendant H1a1 (M52). A primary branch of H-M52, H1a1a (H-M82), is found commonly among the Romani people, who originated in South Asia and migrated into the Middle East and Europe, around the beginning of the 2nd millennium CE and the Khmer people who got under influence from Indian populations.[1] The much rarer primary branch H3 (Z5857) is also concentrated in South Asia.

@ratchet fan: I have no special knowledge of ancient splits in haplogroups; I don't know if maciamo has worked on this Y-haplo; but some genealogic companies sites on the net could give some answers, in asking something like "Y-haplogroup ..."

Thanks. I'll ask around if I have time. It makes me wonder if there was West Eurasian ancestry in South Asia even 40,000 ybp.

In relation with this thread, by interaction between Neolithic France and Neolithic Germany:
I regreat they did not test the Y-haplo's. BTW, ancient physical anthropology had pointed to the specificity of S.O.M and Michelsberger people compared to LBK and following pop's of West-Central Europe
