I've always wondered. My beard mostly grows on my lower jaw and neck. On my face it sprouts around the chin and area and the surroundings
But never on my faces or cheeks. I have this natural goatee sort of beard.

Can you explain this to me what causes this. Is this some genetic defect? Is it tied to certain Y Haplogroup genes or mutations

I'm r1b u152 btw

It's a kind of beard growing found at rather high level among some 'mediter' types, among some Arabs by instance. Contrary to other peri-Mediterranea types, like most of Lebanese, or 'indo-iranian' types who have heavier beard which covers cheeks. Other southern regions show both types and between situations. East-Asians, Ainous aside, have also this tendancy, I think. I have this tendancy too, and I am not of any of these populations!
I have no clue about responsible genes and Y-haplo's are for nothing in that. It is absolutely not a genetic defect.
BT I am not sure the face pillosity doesn't change with age, like does head hair and body hair, even if not in so dramatic way as head hair!
