The International Trade Union Confederation has published its Global Rights Index 2020. I have created a map of Europe with the results. We see that as usual Germanic countries are well rated when it comes to protecting people's rights. Italy and Slovakia also do surprisingly well considering their lower scores for democracy, freedom of press and corruption.

The UK is the only Western or Northern European country with regular violations of workers' rights, doing no better than Russia, Albania or Morocco.

The United States has never been big on workers' rights. It is rated 4 (systematic violations), so even worse and on a par with countries such as Bosnia, Tunisia or Lebanon.

The big shock is seeing how Greece performs. It has the lowest rating (5) for a country not torn by war. There are essentially no guarantees of rights for workers any more. Most countries in Africa got a better score. In fact, in Sub-Saharan Africa only Zimbabwe got a score of 5, and a handful more countries (Burundi, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan and the Central Africa Republic) got 5+. All the others protect their workers better than the Greeks, and many also do better than the USA.

Makes no sense for Greece, cannot be worse in Balkans, and Albania better of, it depends who reports these data.
