@Torzio,

this is precisely the point, I'm aware that the Martinsicuro woman R1 belongs to a group quite distinct from the Etruscans.
But here the "Villanovan" average is the result of the values of R1 with R1015.

https://www.eupedia.com/genetics/ancient_italy.shtml

160350916_205372504677162_11303029215481574_n.png

It's therefore not clear to me why the Martinsicuro sample should be included.
Unfortunately, the terms Protovillanovan and Villanovan are more confusing here...

Agree

R1 should be with SZ1 .....late bronze age sample ......................( MTA states this SZ1 as 700AD, which looks all wrong )

If R1 is supposed to be proto-Villanovan...so should SZ1

I just added:

- Chalcolithic Caucasus
- Chalcolithic Steppe
- Kura-Araxes
- Maykop
- Catacomb culture

I separated Neolithic Italy into EN Italy, MN Sicily and MN Sardinia.

you should separate your first line of your data as there are 2 samples there

my results........only changes appear below ...................distance did not change

mine hasn't changed much, ... so I’ll compare some Raw-Data instead:

- Salento it's a combination of files I used in this thread,

- 23andme v4 + v5 combined,

- NatGeo

- AncestryDNA

... except for distance, the 2WAY results don't change much:

"Evidence of Catacomb influence has been discovered far outside of the Pontic steppe. Its burial chambers, metal types and figurines are very similar to those appearing in Italy and the eastern Mediterranean, while the hammer-head pin, a characteristic ornament of the Catacomb culture, has been found in Central Europe and Italy. Based on these similarities, migrations or cultural diffusion from the Catacomb culture to these areas have been suggested.[1] Similarities between the Catacomb culture and Mycenaean Greece are particularly striking. These include types of socketed spear-heads, types of cheekpieces for horses, and the custom of making masks for the dead.[13]

Yes I agree SZ1 I classified wrongly as Avar from 700 A.D.

I have spent most of the last week calculating the the average values for the K12b admixtures for most of the ancient genomes tested to date. I thank Jovialis for providing me the genomes converted in the right format to run the K12b on Admixture-Studio. You will find the table in the page Genomic analysis of ancient Europeans. I provided an introduction on how to interpret the K12b admixtures.

The purpose of this page is to provide average values for various ancient European populations, which can be used by anyone who has tested their genome to compare their own admixture with these modals on Vahaduo. Averages for a given (historical or modern) population are more useful and representative than individual results due to the potentially high level of interpersonal variations in a society.

This is a good alternative to MyTrueAncestry. In fact, I have found the K12b admixtures to be considerably more reliable than the genetic distance computed by MyTrueAncestry. For example when comparing the Corded Ware genomes with modern population, K12b gives Poles, Russians and Belarussians as the closest matches to the western Corded Ware (Germany) and Finns, Karelians and Estonians for the eastern Corded Ware. In contrast, the closest matches on MyTrueAncestry were the British, Irish and Dutch for the western Corded Ware, which does not make much sense as it was an R1a-dominant culture and the Brits, Irish and Dutch are all R1b-dominant and descended from the Bell Beaker and Unetice.

I also found many inconsistencies in MyTrueAncestry for the results of Medieval Germanic tribes. The closest match to the 6th-century Ostrogoths were the Swedes and English. Yet the 6th-century Ostrogoths were already mixed with Huns and Balkans people. The K12b admixtures give a more probable match to modern Hungarians, Austrians, Slovenes and Croats.

So if you want reliable ancient matches, I would urge you to trust more Dodecad K12b than MyTrueAncestry.

Thanks for developing.
Feels like going back in time...with Gedmatch!

The result looks neat:

Of course, another way of looking at it is that the Latins were a combination of a population similar to Mycenaeans or Minoans or a similar, farmer heavy Copper Age population (the completely farmer like Parma Beaker), plus something resembling Gauls. No two way admixture results are meant to be taken completely literally, of course. No Northern Italians are descended from Spaniards from Spain during the rule of the Visigoths. That's important to keep in mind.

interesting is the new addition to myself of Chernyakhiv_culture_Goths

I have always had some eastern Europe or northern Balkan in my admixture, but never had any Slav .............these Goths are in paper below ( which includes the Friulian Alpine samples from other papers )

... by increasing the distances, I got the Golden Man domain and King Minos, lol

... on my normal results, the Baltic Scandinavia and Italian-Greeks combo is kind of “interesting”, ...though there were VK in Puglia, I assume it is Northern Italian related, though I’m the only one getting that combo, ... I don’t know if that is still the case.

edit:

also down the line Jovialis and I both get the Swedish Vikings, that I assume might be kind of related to the Baltic Scandinavian

ok

But I think this Goth link for me is for my mtdna ............I have current mtdna matches with Scania and Gotland Sweden plus alpine Italy and Austria...about 50-50 split

I still think our ydna is a northern balkan to black sea plus central european mix ( my opinion )

Again, relatively high distances, as my in-law's. (Compared to my parents' and mine.)

Interesting development.

But I get the impression because the basis is an old calculator it still is kind of rough.

In my case for example the dominant figure is Nordic Bronze Age and Lombard. Besides that the time lapses are thousands of years and the the regions of origin kind of overlapping. The percentages and distances are very changing.....
