Interesting stuff. They still don't have the proximal source for CHG/Iran_N in Yamnaya but there are many new samples from the steppes, that might be published soon.

We have over 200 unplubished sample and none is the forefathers of the Yamnaya?”
I was wondering why this 2021 talk did not seemed to have much traction. There is the reason. Had DWA said that they had one, even just one, of those up the volga with L23 and this would be the talk of the month.
Anyways, where can a population of L23 with little to none WHG can come from? – Not the Balkans for sure. So where?

David Anthony thinks Yamnaya is from Ukraine, maybe Sredni Stog and this is what he says about the CHG/Iran_N source:

The new samples with the highest amount of CHG/Iran_N are close to the Volga Delta so he thinks that it is from there. Originally from the Caucasus moving north into the Volga Delta though.
