I wonder whenever he was a migrant from Naples or from Greece. Naples continued to use Greek as an official language till first century AD.
The scientists determined he was Greek probably through his DNA otherwise it wouldn't make sense for them to assume.

I wonder how Naples Greeks plotted genetically, as it was the most well preserved and the strongest Greek city of Roman Era Italy.

"An inscription of the tomb suggested that its owner, a freed slave named Marcus Venerius Secundio, helped organize performances in Greek in Pompeii. Experts said it was the first confirmation that Greek, the language of culture in the Mediterranean, was used alongside Latin."

“Man cannot live without a permanent trust in something indestructible in himself, and at the same time that indestructible something as well as his trust in it may remain permanently concealed from him.”

    Franz Kafka
