'alpine' is a well defined type very very far (opposite in some way) from these guys. 'alpine' in anthropology is a type name, not a geographic one.

That was what struck me when I saw pictures of them: they were from supposedly "Alpine" territory, but weren't Alpine in type, while certainly having a possible "German" look to them. Parts of the Alpine area geographically have what the "old" anthropologists used to call "Dinaric" types.

There are more actual "Alpines" here.
