If you can trace your ancestry back to year 1830, tell us if any of them lived in the "Wild West"? In the area of 20 states west of the line drawn on this map covering a total of 5,166,327 square km, there were only about 100,000 non-Amerindians in 1830:

^^^ In year 1830 only 1% (0.78%) of non-native Americans lived in the areas west of the line I drew above.

Of course when it comes to Native Americans it was the opposite, the great majority lived in the "Wild West" at that time. And even the remnants of the Eastern Tribes were about to be removed (expelled) to the West - the Indian Removal Act was signed in 1830.
 
The figures I posted do not include Canada's population - only the USA within present-day borders.

(so the colonial population includes also Spanish colonists in areas which were still Spanish in 1830)
 
Yes, many Old Stock Americans can trace their ancestry back to the 1600s actually. But I don’t think many people were in the Wild West until the 1850s
