Very well done video based on the latest research. I can't tell you how many times I argued this point with people on dna forums, as well as this forum: Roman soldiers DID NOT subsist mostly on a carbohydrate date of puls and bread. What they would eat when on the march was completely different from what they would eat while in camp.

The info detailed here coincides with the conclusions of a paper based on the sewage of Pompeii which showed a similar very well-rounded diet for the civilian population as well as for the military one. In particular, there was a great dependence on pork products because pigs were easily kept even in urban areas, not requiring pasturage etc.
