'Black nobility' is just a term used in the past, and was how those noble families of Rome, who remained loyal to the papacy after 1870, after the capture of Rome, the final event of the unification of Italy, were defined.

Many of the families listed were never part of the 'black nobility' of the Vatican. In fact, some were part of the 'white nobility'. Still others were not really part of the papal nobility, and some may even have been extinct by 1870.

In general, noble families, when they are not extinct, rarely make DNA test results public. For obvious reasons.
