it means to me that a bunch of bigots decided it was their right to take over the land and shove people out. that's my defintion of manifest destiny. my AP U.S. History said it in nicer terms, but that's basically the gist of it... the expedetion, i guess, menat the beginning of the end for the native americans living west of the appalacians and east of the mississippi, and the end of the beginning for the still relatively newly freed former colonies...
