NewsLondon, Madrid, New York, Paris and Moscow remained in the running to host the world's biggest sporting event as the IOC on Tuesday announced the cities on the short list for the 2012 games. Havana, Leipzig, Istanbul and Rio were discarded after failing to convince the IOC's evaluation commission that they had the capacity, finance and political backing to stage the complex and expensive event.
