Any thoughts on the Inauguration?

I suppose you are referring GW Bush's. Nothing really new. The elections 2 and a half months ago made it clear it was going to be like this. Let's wait and see if he can handle things better than during his first term.

You mean other than the fact that way too much money was spent? Would have been nice if Bush had taken the money that was collected, then just had a Texas BBQ for everyone and spent the rest of the money on something important....Like say environmental issues, the tsunami relief, etc....

Mmmmm.... BBQ.....

I'm still waiting to see if Hollywood is going to cancel its awards ceremonies and spend the money they were going to use to pat themselves on the back (not to mention those lavish parties) on tsunami relief.

You bet these guys will ... NOT! :okashii:

I could cancel my son's birthday party...
Most of the money spent was not tax money. If they want to throw a party (or ten), god bless their frozen backsides.

I went to the Inauguration Day Protest held in Seattle.

A lot of people turned out, but it got very little media coverage.

My only observations: Lack of specifics in speach (to be expected). No mention of Iraq. Little coverage of protests. Distance between President and crowd. When he got out of the limo, there was a good thiryt feet to the K-rail that kept the crowd back.

Thing looked reasonably classy with all the A-list names. Dan Rather getting misty eyed was kind of wierd.
