Sustainability Renewables are soaring worldwide, but fossil fuels aren't decreasing!

Renewables are set to overtake coal as the world’s largest source of electricity within 3 years. Unfortunately that won't affect much the consumption of coal and natural gas worldwide. It's just that the world is becoming more energy hungry, so overall energy production increases thanks to new solar and wind installations, but the quantity of CO2 pumped into the atmosphere remains stable. Well, for energy production at least. The burning of vast swathes of Canada's forest is undoing any good that may have come from renewables and electric cars.

Since the burning of fossil fuels remain stable, the amount of CO2 added to the atmosphere each year also remains stable. It's a nice straight line. Even if all the world magically became carbon neutral overnight it would still take many years for temperature to stop increasing, let alone start decreasing. Anyway I do not see how the world could become carbon neutral before 2050 at the very earliest and by then it will be too late. The world will already have exceeded 4°C of warming, causing the complete collapse of modern civilisation.
