BBC News : Immigrant youths riot in Sweden, burning down school

Rioters in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, have burned down a school building and thrown stones at police in a second night of disturbances.

The trouble began on Monday after a group of youths in a suburb with a mainly immigrant population were refused entry to a dance school.

Police say up to 100 youths went on the rampage, throwing stones and setting several cars alight.

Police said the rioters threw stones at the fire engines, preventing them from reaching the school building before it burned to the ground. The youths also attacked a police station.

Rinkeby is home to a large number of first- and second-generation immigrants. Many of them are from Somalia, so the area is sometimes nicknamed Little Mogadishu.

Looks like Somali immigrants are no better than Moroccan ones in the Benelux and France. :useless:

Michael, hello, hello, Michael Folkesson, help us understand what really happened.
Not trying to be a pain in ...but my point of past discussion on the subject is been proven once again. Is this a side effect of ill constructed, free for all, wild and rampant multicultural and immigration policy?

Below article shows Somalis problem in my part of the world. 30 murders in 5 years in community of about 1 000 people, that's 6 a year. Canada averages 20 murders per 1 million per year. Somali is 300 times more likely to be killed than the rest of Canadians. And no they were no hate/racist killings, mostly drugs related.

“The Somali community has of course seen another murder in that family and group, and the minister of justice will be working with the community to see what the issues are,” Stelmach said Tuesday.
Stelmach called the recent death of 19-year-old Abdinasir Abdulkadir Dirie a “tragic” end to the life of a young man trying to earn money to go to university
Dirie was found dead last week in a Fort McMurray apartment. His family said the Toronto man was working in northern Alberta to save money for tuition at York University in the fall.
Like other victims Somali community members own as their lost men, Dirie was involved in the drug trade and was arrested by Fort McMurray RCMP earlier this year.
Somali leaders want a task force that would not only seek links between cases, but highlight ways to prevent future slayings.
A spokesman for Alberta Justice said this week the minister, Alison Redford, sees a task force as potentially taking too long and costing too much. Instead, Redford wants to work with the community.
On Tuesday, Stelmach noted the province has poured millions of dollars into its safe and secure communities program, which includes boosting resources to policing, the justice system and education.

Very doubtful. Sweden is a very tolerant and accommodating country. Stockholm is now composed of 20% of foreigners, including many Middle Eastern immigrants and refugees. That's the first time I hear of violences like this in Sweden, and obviously it came from immigrants from a poor, Islamic country known for violent piracy. That only send the message to choose better where immigrants and refugees come from.

I am often amazed that Western/Northern European countries have to accept a minimum of refugees per year, while countries like the USA and Japan don't have such obligations. It is equally amazing (or disturbing really) that it is so hard for North American, Australian or Japanese citizens to obtain a work visa to the EU's Schengen zone, but that the number of (legal) third world country refugees (notably from Africa) keep increasing dramatically year after year.

I have recently helped a Japanese friend get a work visa here, and she was basically told by the administration that she had zero chance as she wasn't European (or a refugee). Even if she applied for one of the specialized job in shortage in the country and found an employer who really wanted to recruit her, she was told that she had very limited chances. Almost all the Japanese and Americans working in Belgium are expats send directly by their company to a Belgian branch office, or diplomats. I have also met an American woman who tried many times to get a work visa in various European countries but failed every time. Non-EU citizens who are not destitute and undereducated have a very hard to legally stay in the EU. Say you are from Congo, Sudan or Somalia and suddenly everything is possible.

Today's emigration polices were set in motion by old socialistic school of thinking about people as clean slate. Let the poor and unfortunate people come, we show them our ways and they'll be like us and love it. Michael subscribes to this way of thought, therefore I was calling upon his attention to explain this situation that repeats itself on and on, and on top of it, in most liberal and open country in the world.
My way of thinking is, make your mind what your country should look in the future, or what the country's current needs are, and then except correct emigrants, if you need some.
Letting tribal, hunter gatherers or nomads with completely different views, values, personality and culture to your country might turn fatal for both sides, and Somali example proves it.

Actually Stockholm is 37.5% immigrant or with immigrant background. And about the rest you are right, for South Americans here in Spain it is extremely easy to get Spanish citizenship

Ireland isn't a Schengen country, but the effect is the same. I'm an American and moved to Ireland for three years during the last decade. It was very difficult to get a work permit in my field, so I had to do IT Training for most of the time. My great-grandparents came from Ireland, and this was enough 25 years ago to get me Irish citizenship, but now it counts for nothing.

So I moved back to Pennsylvania and now visit my beautiful dolmen via the Internet.

I am sure it is difficult for Americans in Ireland too, but it must be easier than in other EU countries for at least 3 reasons :

1) The Irish economy is heavily dependent on US high-tech companies which established their European HQ in Ireland. This means that there are much more American expats in Ireland than anywhere else in the EU, proportionally to the population.

2) The US and Ireland have good historical ties, and lots of Americans can claim Irish ancestry, which supposedly facilitate the obtention of visas too.

3) Ireland is has more freedom of decision regarding visas as it is not a Schengen member.

So you can imagine how it must be in Schengen countries !
