The coalition estimated earlier this week that 300 to 400 militants remained in the city. On Friday, a local official said an estimated about 100 militants had surrendered.
“They [Isis] have 400 hostages with them – women and children – in the national hospital,” Alloush told AFP.
The US-led coalition backing the SDF’s drive for Raqqa had announced the deal earlier on Saturday but said it would exclude foreign Isis fighters. However, Alloush insisted the agreement included non-Syrian jihadists.
According to this video, truck drivers and a family living on the road with a shop witnessed there were 4000 fully armed ISIS fighters, including foreigners.
it is expected that these foreign fighters will dissapear in anonymity and strike terror whenever the occasion occurs

Well, 400 or 4,000, we can expect to hear from them again. What a good idea!

You couldn't make this level of stupidity up.
 
Did they count all "4000"?
 
I've seen it on BBC. Do we know where they went and hiding now?
I have no idea why a deal like this is done, just to move the problem from Raqqa to other town in Syria?
 
Unfortunately this is not the first time this has happened and perhaps it won't be the last, in fact it has been a norm through out the war to load militants up on buses and move them somewhere else. FSA and SDF would make deals with ISIS and move them to Deir ez Zor meanwhile the SAA would do the same and move them to Idlib. They do this supposedly to prevent villages and cities from further destruction and potential loss of life, but it's fairly obvious to see they are just shoving ISIS militants on other rival factions hoping to knock out two birds with one stone.
 
Their rationale: its better to have them kill off x amount of innocents in city a than city b
 
Too cute by half, imo. I totally understand "divide and conquer", but you never know how these kinds of things will work out. There's too much opportunity for unintended consequences. Look how well it turned out when we armed the Afghanis to keep Russia mired down in Asia. Just freaking kill them while you have them in your power; they've shown they deserve no better.

Sorry if that sounds bloodthirsty, but the amount of suffering and death they've unleashed on the people of the Middle East, with ripple effects all the way to Europe, has to be stopped once and for all, and everybody needs an object lesson that this will not be tolerated.

If they're not lucky they're going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I totally agree.
It is some kind of cowardess not to acknowledge that.

what for?
where they gone?
why heavy army equipment carried?
