Shaddadid dynasty have R1a Y-DNA and they are Kurdish in origin. Saladin, belonged to Ayyubids family who are closely connected to the Shaddadid dynasty.

''The family were closely connected to the Shaddadid dynasty, and when the last Shaddadid was deposed in Dvin in 1130, Shadhi moved the family first to Baghdad and then to Tikrit, where he was appointed governor by the regional administrator Bihruz. Ayyub succeeded his father as governor of Tikrit when Shadhi died soon after.''

This account published 5 samples from 3 families descended from Saladin, all clustered together in E-M2 under this line

Since the Shaddadids have a strong link with the Caucasus it would be interesting if we end up with any Armenian or Azeri samples upstream of this Ayyubid cluster.

Edit: I couldn't post the link to the twitter post for some reason so here is a screenshot

amazing if true
truly against all odds if true
since e1b1a-m2 don't exist in Kurds in academic and scientific research papers
they do have e1b1b1 though and in different branches : e-m78 ,e-m123 🤔
i still think it is important to mention that e1b1a-m2 was found in 2.9% at Yazidis
which i think they are somewhat of kurdish heritage

e1b1a-m2 3/106 2.9% in yazidis
Yz-M-046 - e1b1a-m2( likely e-L485)
Yz-M-048 - e1ba1a-m2(likely e-L485)
Yz-M-050- e1b1a-m2(likely e-L485)

source research:

p.s
Do those families have a confirmed paper trail that leads all the way to Al-Afdal bin salah Al-Din Al -Ayubi ?

The Yazidis are Kurdish speaking so they are very relevant. Their predicted subclade is the sibling clade of the the samples above, so I would say it's very possible that they all cluster together.

I don't know if any of these families have a paper trail, but hopefully these samples are uploaded to yfull soon so that we can see their TMRCA.

Considering all the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire belong to haplogroup R1a, it is very likely.

yes
if i am not wrong one of there descendants took a dna test
and turn R-z93
i think generally speaking Kurdish r1a should also fall under R-z93
