What happened to genarchivist

I hope it doesn't last long and everything goes well.

Any update?
Albruic posted this on Discord this morning:

All the paperwork is done. Now we just have to wait for things to get normal. Don't worry, everyone will be notified when we get back up and I am planing a new event where everyone can participate! It's going to be fun

Seems that the site is still down!

Paperwork? What paperwork?

Did Albruic post any more updates on the status? If the domain is suspended and he didn't renew it, it generally doesn't take longer than 24 hours to renew it and get it back up and running. If that's the case now, what happens a year from now? The year after that? I have a feeling it'll just close down out of nowhere at some point, similar to Anthrogenica. I believe we need a permanent alternative, one which is crowd sourced / crowd funded and won't close down.

The above quote is the last thing I’ve seen from him on the subject.

There should be some direct link to the forum without using the domain. Something like: free-forums.net/genarchivist..
They can share the link.. Unless if it is on dedicated server. But still it should be accessible by IP address. I hope no need to start re-creating the forum from Zero.

All these forums cost money to host sadly. But domain renewal is cheap compared to forum server cost. I wonder what the real reason is here, maybe they got hit with a subpoena for sharing journal paywall academic papers 😂

So, it's been a while since it went offline. Any updates? Is it coming back?

I haven't seen any update on it. I'm surprised more people aren't questioning what's happened since the forum was pretty popular. It would be nice if the owner could make an official explanation.

That's rare and very unlikely to happen unless someone was charging others to view papers they themselves bought from an academic source.

First Anthrogenica and now Genarchivist. What a shame. Why can't we have nice things?
