No wonder food costs so much these days?c.we get hit with double-dipping farmers (maybe the exception) that get subsidies from tax dollars and charge up prices based on fake productivity on non-existent production?cnice?c

Government Steps Up Efforts to Stop Crop Subsidy Fraud
»
from Morning Edition, Thursday , December 09, 2004
As agricultural subsidies increase, so does the incidence of fraud. The federal government is stepping up its efforts to stop the problem, but it isn't always easy to find witnesses. Much of the fraud happens within small communities where families and friends are unwilling to blow the whistle.

Uh, I know tomatoes cost a lot because of crop failure. ^_^ Thanks to the lovely hurricanes that hit Florida.

Edit: I put "crap" failure instead of "crop". Heh heeeeeh
