This is what would happen if you translate the lyrics into English:

Man is the measure of all things


The animals of the world
I rather like them
But more than anything I like
The hares and the bears
The bears!

Soon all birds will die
Soon all beetles will die
Only Adam is lying in bed
And reproduces with Eve

The hares live in the forest
The cats in the meadows
And the cockroaches
They live under the tiles

Little hares have short noses
And little cats have soft paws
And Mrs Holle likes the wool
Of the dromedary from Africa

The difference between people
Between apes and primates
It's not much bigger
Than between noodles and fries
Fries!

But whoever wants to know more
About animals, should study biology
Or connect to my homepage
To find it out yourself

Hmm... Every language has it's own beauty.
It's impossible to translate poems from one language into another, without losing the essence.

My point is, you don't always have to understand a poem that's sung on music, to enjoy it.
For instance, I don't understand much of Italian, but I like the songs.
The Austrian song is nice, because it's a dialect. It wouldn't sound that good if the singer had used standard German.

Some languages like German and Dutch are rather artificial, and that's why it's hard to sing in those languages.
