How safe is Mexico for Travelling

Hi everyone,

I am planning to visit Mexico with my family soon, but I am worried about the safety situation there. I checked the state travel advisory https://travel.state.gov/content/tr.../traveladvisories/mexico-travel-advisory.html, and it says that almost all places in Mexico have safety concerns, such as violent crime, kidnapping, and drug-related violence. Is this really the truth, or is it exaggerated? What’s the real story over there?

I would appreciate any advice or insights from people who have been to Mexico recently, or who live there.

I was wondering if safety concern is really there or not! Any thoughts on this?

There seem to be stereotypes about Mexico, that's what I have found so far.
