What do you like about your first/native language?

I have the feeling English and Dutch hate each other. Everything "translated" from the one into the other gets butchered. Try reading the Dutch Potter books or Lord of the Rings (in de ban van de ring) Or try watching the American versions of Dutch movies.
(okay, this only works if you can actually speak both languages.

most of the time they try changing the names of the characters in the books.

I love, and feel proud of, my mother tongue, one of the most acient & intelligent glyph language, Chinese. Glyph always implies by far more than it literally reads, which is a unique nature that most languages do not have. And thus, Chinese handwriting becomes an art itself, another unique culture derived from glyph.

And I love English, too, for it's a tool for international communication, just like what we are doing now. But I'm not very confident about my English :relief:

Everything!! There's nothing in greek language that I don't like. I'm very proud of my language!! :)

my language is indonesian,,,
it's similiar with Malay,,but it's different somehow,,

we have many "ethnic groups" that can makes our way of speaking
different,,so everyone has different accent & language (it is wonderful that Indonesia has many language beside Indonesian),,,!
we can "mix" our "ethnic language" with Indonesian,,,
well, I think it's hard to learn for foreign people, since there's nobody in
Indonesia speaking without "mixing" the language,,, :p
